To Earl, Irma may not be a professional typist, however she can make her point. Irma is not lecturing, however as a Buddhist she, like our brothers and sisters in the Nation Of Islam, deals with a new way of life, which gives a being freedom from confusion and disillusionment. She speaks as one who rejects any form of demeaning things about our original African culture or being Black in America. It is always a pleasure to engage in dialouge with our sister--with some real K-N-O-W-L-E-D-G-E!!!
To Jake, is that really necessary to pick on Charmell like that my brother? Charmell seems like a knowledgeable and intelligent sister with a lot of insight on the issues affecting our communities. I noticed that whenever a new member joins the site, you make them your target and compare them to Christine Governor--and I don't think that is right at all.
Besides, the year 2013 is right around the corner, and all these "fake member" allegations is getting old, so let's give it a rest please.

Charmel....l a friend of mine who is a wall street securities attorney and works in government in GEORGIA he called me and said the black people in ALABAMA ,GEORGIA ,AND THEM SOUTHERN STATES would not come out and vote because of fear ,fear of loosing there job , fear of being a target of racism etc ,he said they really disappointed him because the had 20 vans to pock them up and drop them off to go vote ,,,it made me think all those blacks in the ATL and no power ,,,all republican !

Is not your woman more valuable than that crop of corn, that crop of cotton, that crop of cabbage, potatoes, beans, tomatoes? How much more valuable is your woman than these crops that you should keep the enemies from destroying the crops. Yet you are not careful about your women. You don’t love them. Why? It is because you have allowed visitors to run in and out of your house, thus they have destroyed your love for your woman and your woman has not the love for you that she should.
That is a good sign. Until we learn to love and protect our woman, we will never be a fit and recognized people on the earth. The white people here among you will never recognize you until you protect your woman.
The brown man will never recognize you until you protect your woman. The yellow man will never recognize you until you protect your woman. The white man will never recognize you until you protect your woman.
You and I may go to Harvard, we may go to York of England, or go to Al Ahzar in Cairo and get degrees from all of these great seats of learning. But we will never be recognized until we recognize our women.
On visiting with a couple of my sons in what they call the Near East, in 1959, I began in Turkey. We traveled form Turkey down to Africa to Ethiopia and the Sudan. We visited Arabia (Mecca and Medina), and we visited Pakistan. We returned home from Lahore, Pakistan, on or about the 6th of January, 1960. We didn’t even find on that entire tour such a thing as not recognizing the black woman.
Everywhere we went, the Black man recognized his woman. He had great respect for her. We dined in many of the “top (as you say in slang) homes”. We dined with some of the most influential people of these countries – government people. In some of their homes, we never did see any of their family, only men.
The waiter was a man or a boy, not any woman. My beloved brothers in America, you have lost the respect for your woman and therefore you have lost the respect for yourself. You won’t protect her; therefore you can’t protect yourself.
She is your first nurse. She is your teacher. Your first lesson comes from your mother. If you don’t protect your mother, how do you think you look in the eyes of other fellow human beings?

My understanding is the Buddha sought to understand suffering and the end of suffering, and control over the "monkey mind". And that the practice of ending suffering starts with the individual but that includes how we manage our relationships, and as we improve ourselves we also become a benefit to the community: family, local and global.

Charmell, remember I am 70 years old and was born in Jacksonville, N.C. I have lived this taht you speak of. I was born and raised in a town just like the one you mentioned. But i tseem they were much better off than us, because it seem no hangings. well in the 60s only my highschool was bombed on our graduation day, but a town called KIngston about 25 miles away was almost burned to the ground all due to sit in strikes an ddemanding the rights to vote...but we were spared much because we were near the amrine base and it threatened to get put off limits...well ms tpeople from as far away as Willimington about 25 miles away came to work on rth base(Lady O's birth place)...
