Two years ago I published a book entitled This Side of Paradise: The Religious World of Elijah Muhammad. It was not an attempt at a biography but it was, rather, a theological book examining the teachings of Elijah Muhammad in relation to orthodox Islam as well as orthodox Christianity. On this website, Black in America, I was criticized by a person who goes by the name of Robert Powell -- criticized for not interviewing members of the family of Elijah Muhammad. Mr. Powell could not understand the concept of a theological work, as distinct from a biographical work, but he claimed that there were many relatives of Mr Muhammad that participate in this website. I am asking if any members of his extended family would be willing to send me anecdotes regarding your memories or the memories of your parents or grandparents, and even copies of photographs, of his home and of any temples that he would have preached at. I do not know if I will come out with another edition of my book but if I do perhaps I will be able to include a new section with some of your memories and reflections. Thank you. Sincerely, Curt Tilleraas

Why don't you write about some White person since you are White and this is a Black American site and Elijah Muhammad was a Black American. What good is a White person's opinion about Elijah to Black American. We know Elijah better than any White person would know him! You are really being an ass-hole!

Oh Harry, You are always the charmer. As I said, I wasn't out to write a biography, but rather a theological work. Well you can read what I wrote in the above. According to your criteria, Elijah Muhammad should not have written about white people, which he did all the time.

And Curt, according to Harry he should not be writing about the Jewish people's passover.

I can see her with the little ones. :) She had an infectious curiosity that, from the little I knew of her, would have been right at home with children. How are you doing?

Mr. Curtis, I don’t think you understand the point I am making! Elijah Muhammad is one of Black America’s icons. Black Americans and White Americans are racially to different people. Black Americans have had to this day a horrific suffering relationship with White Americans. White Americans has always taken advantage of Black Americans sensitive feelings. White Americans have always infused themselves into Black Americans. As a White man and by you writing about Elijah Muhammad whether it is a biography or a theological work is distasteful and touches Black Americans sensitive feelings. It is a slap in the face of Black Americans that you would have audacity being a White man to tell Black Americans anything about Elijah Muhammad. I think I’ve made my point and I’m not going argue with you!
