Steve Shultz: "The Supreme Court and God's Part – Here's What Happened"
"Our votes don't count anymore!" so many of God's people are saying.
"God doesn't seem to answer our prayers about the Supreme Court!" others are crying.
"With all the prayers that we all prayed, how come we just lost this marriage case?" so many Believers are asking.
Ok, here's what happened...
First, you need to read this Scripture:
Proverbs 21:1 "The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as are the watercourses; He turns it whichever way He wills.
Now, think about it. Solomon, the wisest man and the wisest KING who ever lived, said in Proverbs 21:1 that God can… and often does – turn the king's heart "WHICHEVER WAY HE WILLS!"
Even though man has freewill and God mostly lets us use only our free will – His Sovereignty allows Him – AT WILL, to change the heart of the King or the heart of one or two Supreme Court Justices or even YOUR HEART!
Because He's God, He can – if He chooses – SIMPLY CHANGE A MAN OR WOMAN'S HEART! The Bible says so!
SO WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SUPREME COURT?
We, at the Elijah List, helped to rally thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of intercessors to pray for our land, the USA, and to pray for this marriage Supreme Court case. For weeks Believers have been lifting up the Supreme Court about their impending decision on MARRIAGE!
Virtually every intercessor knew this vote by the Supreme Court was coming up this week regarding gay marriage. Untold thousands of hours were rallied for prayer, and that's only what we know about from this ministry. Far MORE were rallied all over the USA and the WORLD by other ministries and other prayer warriors!
Focused attention was set by all on asking God, "Don't let the Supreme Court allow gay marriage to be the law of the Land!"
I myself prayed, "Lord, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't let this happen. Keep marriage between a man and woman. Don't let the Court vote wrongly," I prayed.
Yet even with the thousands of hours of prayer by thousands of prayer warriors – and when we ONLY NEEDED ONE LIBERAL VOTE to change on this issue – GOD DID NOT INTERVENE TO CAUSE ONE LIBERAL JUDGE TO CHANGE HIS OR HER MIND.
God, who is able to change the heart of a man or a King... DIDN'T!
NOW WHAT?
The Lord directed me to this story. David's son is dying. When the child became deathly ill, David went into intense fasting and prayer asking God to intervene and cause the child to live. But the baby died anyway, even though he sought God with tears and repentance. Then, in the moment when David learned of his son's death, he got up, washed his face and went about his duties as King.
His attendants asked David why he suddenly stopped grieving. This is what David said to them:
2 Samuel 12:22-23: He answered, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, 'Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let the child live.' But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again?"
That court case, the Lord said, "was your baby."
God told me, "Steve, the baby died! Tell My people to get up off their knees, wash their face, and get back to the work of the Kingdom!"
Many in the Church in the last few days have been declaring curses against the Body because this gay marriage law went into effect. They concluded, among other things,"God must be judging the Church for not repenting enough or for not praying enough or not protesting gay marriage enough!"
NO! This baby simply died because after all of our fasting and prayers and intercessions – God chose not to intervene with the Court. It's that simple.
That's it! We needed ONLY ONE vote from the "left" and God didn't provide it even though we prayed for it.
Get it?
All of us interceded. We pleaded with God to intervene with the Court. God had the power to change the heart of only one man or one woman. But God DID NOT change the heart of one man or one woman and the vote came out 5-4 against traditional marriage.
"The baby died," The Lord said. "Now Church, get up off your knees, wash your face, and get back to work in My Vineyard and in My Kingdom."
