The candidate: Ben Carson. Welcome back, doctor!
The gaffe:On CNN Thursday, Carson was asked about a passage in his book A More Perfect Union suggesting that gun regulation during 1930s Germany meant Jews couldn’t resist the Nazis. The Republican candidate didn’t flinch: “I think the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed. There’s a reason these dictatorial people take the guns first.”
The defense: What Carson is saying here may be new to many viewers, but it’s an idea with a long history in conservative media. (Here’s a version from National Review, for example.) Many on the right argue that a better armed populace might have resisted the Nazis.
Why it matters (or doesn’t): Understandably, many people find this argument offensive, in part because it implies Jews didn’t do enough to defend themselves. Moreover, experts from historians to the Anti-Defamation League have rejected the idea as factually baseless. The gaffe also cements Carson’s penchant for poorly considered remarks—comparing the U.S. to Nazi Germany elsewhere, or likening ISIS to the Founding Fathers.

No, gun control was not a cause for the Holocaust. It was, however, one tool among many used by Hitler to gain near total control of Nazi Germany.
The most notable figure involved in gun control during this time was perhaps Werner Best, who first implemented ever increasing restrictions on gun ownership in the Weimar Republic, followed by confiscation and lists of gun owners, in the interests of "public safety." Sound familiar?
Eventually as the Nazis gained power Werner became a Gestapo member and oversaw mass searches and seizures of weapons, and implemented rules banning gun clubs, and then prohibiting Jews from being allowed anywhere near guns, their manufacture, the manufacture of ammunition, etc.
By the time Jews, homos*xuals, blacks and political undesirables were being rounded up for slaughter, he had ensured there were no weapons available to those who were, for the "greater good", sent to the gas chambers en masse.
I think that the motivating factor to the holocaust was caused by racism. This particularly nasty version of the "Us and Them" syndrome humans have a strong tendency to believe led to the notions of "Aryans" who were racially superior to everyone else.

See people like him need research into what he says. This is a man that you can't take a face values because he is towing the party line, with a little research you can see the flaws, no LIES in his conversation.
I agree Carson needs to stop LYING but he won't because he is second in lead of The Republican Party candidate for President of the United States of America.

I guess the image in your mind, when I touched on the subject of BLACK PEOPLE was among those in the holocaust you think of people with light skin, well I am not, I am talking about dark skinned people. Now you know for a FACT that this is a attempt to whitewash the fact that Black people in Germany was also considered a interior racist people by The Arien leadership. Now let the truth be told, there was only a small part in the history books that will point out that the Germans had interracial relationships outside of the aryan race and had interracial relationships outside of the Aryan race.
The reason why I think that it is so important to bring fourth the word Black people in this case is because both the Ariens And the so-called JEWS was caucasian and many of us don't know that Black People was murdered in the holocaust to this day.

When cars became involved in the death of Thousands of Americans, we had to show the state that we could operate the car safely and once we did, we got a license. We also had to have insurance in case we injured or killed someone. The same should be done for GUNS IN THIS country.
It was a shame that the kids at Sandy Hood died by gun fire and the parents of those children did not get a dime for there loss. Thousands of reports darken our air waves of a 5 year old kid finding there parents gun, that was not properly stowed away, that shot there sister in the head and killed them dead..
If the parent was trained in how to take care of that gun, there child would be alive today.

Great Britain and Australia has a comprehensive voluntary buy back program. These countries did not confiscate their citizens hand guns and it worked. The crime rate, accidental shootings with hand guns and killings with hand guns is down and it is working for the people of those countries. The main reason why that is happening is because their politicians listened to the will of the people and not to the gun lobbyist.

Racism is something that is voluntary by the poor and a perceived right as a member of the ruling class based on skin color in this country and not on economics. If by chance they make that connection by skin color and not by the economics, they will find themselves in the same status as those that they are discriminating against by the oligarchy or the upper ruling classes.
