John Gibson is the Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Director of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives at the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The MPAA is the public advocacy organization for the six major Hollywood studios including Sony, Paramount and Disney. Disney was most recently connected to "Black Panther" and "A Wrinkle in Time" who are currently the #1 and #2 films in the U.S. Both of these highly anticipated and history making blockbusters were directed by black filmmakers, Ryan Coogler and Ava Duvernay.
Mr. Gibson sat down with #LeadershipTuesdays to talk about his story, the work the MPAA is doing to create more diversity and inclusion in the film and television industry, and the Oscars. He also spoke about some of the successes he has had connecting minorities and women to Hollywood studios
