Monday's announcement (https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/updated-torrent-pharmaceuticals-limited-expands-voluntary-nationwide-recall-losartan-potassium-0) targets an additional five lots of the generic drug losartan made by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited. The lots include losartan potassium (https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=potassium&irgwc=1&sourceid=imp_ShfVx1V7VxyJTRVwUx0Mo3YRUknx0oXuNWnP0o0&veh=aff&wmlspartner=imp_27795&clickid=ShfVx1V7VxyJTRVwUx0Mo3YRUknx0oXuNWnP0o0) tablets and losartan potassium/hydrochlorothiazide tablets.
The recalled lots contain trace amounts of N-methylnitrosobutyric acid, or NMBA, which has been linked to cancer.
