Ginsburg, 87, died of cancer on Friday, setting up a high-stakes battle in the Senate to confirm her replacement with the 2020 presidential nomination looming in 46 days. In 2016, McConnell took the opposite tack when Justice Antonin Scalia died, refusing to hold confirmation proceedings for President Obama's nominee Merrick Garland. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell confirmed in a Friday night statement that the Senate will vote on President Donald Trump's nominee to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Ginsburg, 87, died on Friday night from cancer, the Court announced. On September 9, Trump unveiled a new shortlist with 20 possible additional nominees to fill another Supreme Court vacancy, including multiple federal judges and three Republican Senators. Obama had 11 months to go went Moscow Mitch said that the people will choose. Now we have a opening with less then 48 days to go with this election and Moscow Mitch is saying TO HELL WITH THE PEOPLE CHOICE.
Interesting!!! It looks like two rules are at work here. One set of rules for the Black President and another set of rules for the White President, Both coming from the same person. You don't think race had something to do with that, do you?

YES Moscow Mitch do have the same powers in 2020 just like he did in 2016 and it is clear that in 2016 The Black President have 11 months to go.
Moscow Mitch would not even hold a hearing for the Black President nominee because he sighed "The people will choose the next president and he will put the next judge on The Supreme Court and that's what happened. Now keep in mind Obama had 11 months to go and Moscow Mitch held up that appointment for 11 months.
Now in this case Trump has less then 46 DAYS to go and Moscow Mitch want to rush through it all and DAMN The American people, WHY is that Steve?

The President nominates and the Senate advises and consents. In 2016 the Senate did NOT consent. In 2020 the Senate WILL consent. Everything will be above board and legal, just as it was in 2016.

The two situations are exactly the same. The Republicans controlled the Senate in 2016 and in 2018 the great red wave added to their numbers. Now they have even more leeway for dissenting votes. The Republicans have no reason to pass up the chance to replace Ginsberg with a conservative justice. You've got to be nuts Ron. These are the quirks of fate that mortals have no control over. Who would have thought China would attack the whole world with a pandemic, just to get rid of a tough American President? You need to learn to roll with the punches.

Scalia was conservative and Obama wanted to replace him with a liberal. Mitch prevented that and the Republicans prevailed in 2016 and got Gorsuch. The Republicans prevailed again in 2018 and the plan is to prevail in 2020 as well. That means Trump's nomination in 2020 will be confirmed too.
