Singer, songwriter and performer Natalie Cole was born on February 6, 1950 in Los Angeles.
Natalie Maria Cole may be the daughter of the legendary Nat King Cole, but she has earned a name that stands on its own. The singer was born on Feb. 6, 1950.
Cole first debuted her singing talents at the age of 6 when she appeared on her father’s Christmas album. By the age of 11, Cole was performing at venues in her community.
After Cole graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1972, she began performing with her band Black Magic. As the power vocalist rose to stardom, she released her first studio album, Inseparable, with hits like “This Will Be.” The album won Cole her first Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
Cole’s quick rise to fame was only the beginning. Throughout her career, she would receive several Grammy nominations.
