The Nursing Assistant functions as a member of the nursing care team and assist licensed nursing staff in the care of Veterans receiving outpatient care, home or community living care or other Veterans who are in acute, sub-acute or chronic states of illness. Nursing Assistants are responsible for the delivery of selected nursing activities to patients experiencing a variety of alteration in their physical, behavioral, acute and/or chronic psychiatric illnesses/substance dependency problems.
