This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-13. At the GS-12 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-13. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.
This position is located in the Compliance and Business Integrity Office at the VA Medical Center in Long Beach, CA.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
IMPORTANT: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
Physical Requirements: Physical demands required are essentially non-strenuous and include prolonged sitting, occasional extended mobility to various areas of the facility, standing, bending, the employee may be required to lift light office items and files not exceeding 25 pounds. The employee is often required to travel and attend functions during other than normal duty hours. The work environment involves normal everyday risks and discomforts of office settings. The work area is lighted, heated and ventilated. Coordination and participation in meetings and other activities require presence in a variety of in-house and off-station areas and facilities. The work include high stress with frequent abrupt deadlines.
Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
