Description:
The Director of the Learning Enrichment Center is responsible for the overall management and supervision of a comprehensive academic center that helps students develop skills and strategies that will enable them to become independent, active learners and to achieve academic success. Services include peer and group tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, disability verification and services, placement assessment in math and foreign language, and testing services. This position reports to the Vice Provost for Graduate Programs and Research.

Responsibilities:
* Assesses testing needs in cooperation with academic departments and manages testing and proctoring examinations to students, staff, and community members. Oversees annual testing center contracts.
* Manages testing center activities, including maintaining a testing center environment sensitive to user requirements and in accordance with the national standards. Supervises the collection of data for report preparation and analysis of usage trends.
* Supervises the Tutoring Coordinator who manages the Tutor-Trac online tutoring appointment system and software program, ensuring secure tutor, student, and faculty access.
* Verifies CLEP, DSST, and FLATS transcripts for course equivalency and credit units.
* Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates center staff, student workers who serve as tutors, Supplemental Instruction leaders, and office support.
* Collaborates with academic departments for tutor referrals, subject areas of need, and verification of tutor academic knowledge. Works actively with other areas of the university toward sensory technical standards. Participates in university service such as the Admissions Committee, Retention Committee, and Care Team.
* Maintains data on test scores of students designated as “underprepared” and those designated as disabled. Provides statistical information, as needed for preparation of university IPEDS reports.
* Chairs the University Access and Accommodations Committee, providing leadership for university-wide disability services. Participates in the development of policy and procedure regarding academic services to students with disabilities.
* Oversees intake and disability verification process for students with disabilities and negotiates accommodations with students. This includes determining whether a student is disabled, determining accommodations for academic, housing, and other student campus needs at all university sites, and assisting disabled students as needed in securing reasonable accommodations at clinical or internship facilities. Communicates accommodations to pertinent faculty and staff and monitors delivery of accommodations and proctors exams as needed. Confers with the Office of General Counsel as needed.
* Maintains records and statistics on disability services including maintenance of verification records and correspondence with disabled students requesting or receiving academic accommodations.
* Maintains currency on theory and trends on disability related issues including legal developments, and technology for equal access.
* Assists in the establishment and maintenance of professional alliances with outside publics such as Department of Rehabilitation, interpreting agencies, interpreter training programs, disability advocates, and organizations for the disabled community. Oversees hiring and billing for sign-language or oral interpreter services in the classroom, chapel, admissions, or other university related settings as needed.
* Provides flexible and responsive service to the university community and continuously assesses processes and procedures, revising accordingly.

Experience: Five or more years of experience in higher education or with students in an educational setting and in provision of academic support services to students. Knowledge of learning assistance operations and techniques, tutoring techniques, learning evaluation and assessment, and data analysis. Management of budgets, supplies and equipment as well as security measures and standards. Demonstrated commitment to student success. Demonstrated experience in collaborative efforts (with an emphasis on diplomacy, patience, tact, and flexibility).

Workload: Full-time, 12 month academic administrator position.
