National Recruitment and Selection Specialist – Western Region|
Urban Teachers (formerly Urban Teacher Center) is recruiting for a full-time—National Recruitment and Selection Specialist for the Western Region (Northern California, Oregon, and Washington). This person should be based the San Francisco Bay area and will serve as a member of Urban Teachers’ National Recruitment Team. The position starts no later August 21, 2017.

Role and Responsibilities:
The National Recruitment and Selection Specialist for the Western region is responsible for identifying and attracting outstanding talent to apply to Urban Teachers’ alternative teacher preparation program in Dallas/Fort Worth, DC and Baltimore and soon additional cities. This includes establishing a significant local Urban Teachers presence and brand, building key strategic partnerships, and recruiting at local and regional colleges and universities. The position also involves applicant cultivation, including conducting one-on-one calls and meetings with interested prospects and applicants, conducting local and regional informational sessions, and attending meetings representing Urban Teachers for recruitment purposes.
As part of the national recruitment team, the Recruiter will be responsible for marketing of Urban Teachers’ teacher preparation program to targeted colleges and universities and partner organizations in Northern California, Oregon and Washington. This could include managing one or more Campus Campaign Fellows from local colleges and universities.
As a member of the Urban Teachers Recruitment Team, this person supports Final Interview Days; contributes to the cultivation of Western area prospects; evaluates digital interviews; and manages the logistics for Western area Final Interview days and serves as selector for other Final Interview Days in Dallas, DC, Baltimore, and other cities around the country and virtually.
This position reports to the Executive Director of Recruitment and involves extensive regional travel, primarily throughout Northern California.
Qualifications & Requirements
Preferred skill set:
Applicants should be college graduates with at least two years of experience in recruitment, human resources, non-profit management, and/or teaching.
Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills – written and verbal, ability to develop deep relationships and connect with others (potential applicants to Urban Teachers, referring partners including professors, career services staff, etc.), and work collaboratively with Urban Teachers’ staff throughout the country. Applicants must be effective public speakers.
Applicants must have strong organizational, project management and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office suite and preferably experience with Salesforce.
Applicants must be able to set and work towards ambitious goals, problem solve and perform basic data analysis. Applicants must be reflective, able to make course corrections based on evidence, able to grow and improve and contribute to the learning of the entire recruitment team.
Applicants must be self-starters who are highly-driven individuals and who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment; experience with virtual management a plus.
Applicants must be able to travel independently throughout Northern California and the surrounding region. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
