Child Care Assistant (Multiple Positions) (6075)|
The Child Care Assistant is an integral component of the Head Start/Early Head Start team. The Assistant is responsible for helping the staff with the implementation of learning experiences provided to the children. He or she will help staff provide for with physical needs of children (such as feeding, dressing, sleeping and other activities), along with assisting in the care and maintenance of the center environment. The successful candidate will also coordinate and perform duties in the food service area of the Head Start center. The Child Care Assistant may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities in support of the departmentís mission and goals.
This position is a current part-time civil service vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's East St. Louis based Head Start locations. The Child Care Assistant will close to applicants at close of business, 4:30 pm CST, on the posting end date.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Possession of credentials required by Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for employment as a Child Care Assistant.
-Physical examination as required by Illinois Child Care Act for employees in child care facilities.
-Personal attributes required by Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for all child care personnel.
-Experience with infants/toddlers in a group care setting.
-Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.
-Ability to work as a team member and work effectively with all levels of staff, parents and center volunteers.
