Full-time, Tenure-Track Position #F0077 & #F0337
The Department of Education and Special Education in the College of Education and Human Services at Longwood University invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education positions beginning August 2018. Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education. Applicants having completed coursework for the terminal degree may be considered depending on expected completion date.
The Department seeks a candidate with a strong commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching. In addition, it is highly preferred that the successful candidate must have a strong record of K-6 teaching, evidence of scholarship in the form of research and/or presentations at the local, regional, state, or national level, and an interest and willingness to be actively involved in the delivery of instruction and supervision through off-campus partnerships with local school divisions. The candidate must possess a current teaching license and an active research agenda.
This tenure-track position will focus on best practices and pedagogy in the areas of literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies with primary emphasis on curriculum/methods-based teaching assignments in the elementary/middle school programs. Additionally, the candidate could be considered a generalist in nature, but may have specific area(s) of expertise. Having three or more years of experience teaching in the elementary and/or middle school setting is required.
