As a direct report to the General Curator, the Administrative Assistant must possess superior computer/technical knowledge and skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and time management skills. Extensive contact with all Zoo departments, staff, and vendors, as well as Zoo trustees and the general public requires a polished professional image, tact, and discretion at all times. Must embrace the Zoo’s mission of empowering people and communities, both locally and globally, to advance animal conservation.
At the Zoo, we refer to our animals, mammals, and plants as our “Collection”. This role provides important administrative support to the Collections departments, as well as the VP of Infrastructure and Constructions. Generally, this position works a Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm schedule. Some scheduling flexibility is possible. Due to certain special events, the Administrative Assistant may be required to work rare evenings and week-ends.
• Outstanding knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as a good working knowledge of Access and Project.
• Technical ability to learn new programs and/or processes in a timely fashion.
• A High School Diploma or TASC/high school equivalency is required with a minimum of 10 years similar executive administrative experience required.
• Post-secondary education (Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited university/college or technical school degree) with a minimum of 5 years of similar executive administrative experience strongly preferred.

The Zoo offers a competitive benefit package (medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 403b) upon 90 days of employment. After qualifying, full time employees are granted 40 hours of PTO per quarter.
