Learning Support Teacher
Christchurch School seeks candidates for the position of Learning Skills Teacher.  The person in this position will teach full-time in our Learning Skills Program (four to five classes in differing adult-student ratios), and serve as a resource to teachers in the understanding of the needs of all learners. We are at an exciting juncture in our historic Learning Skills Program as we develop new, more differentiated offerings to meet the needs of different types of learners.  We are seeking a dynamic, patient educator who thrives on helping young people find the confidence to succeed and who would like to help in creating the next chapter of our program. 
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualified candidates will have a degree in Special Education, Psychology, Human Development, or Education or the equivalent and experience providing specialized instruction and coaching to students with learning differences, especially ADHD and language-based learning disabilities.  Collaboration with teachers both in and outside of the Learning Skills Program is central to our mission, and candidates must have the social and communication skills required to succeed in such an environment. Candidates should expect to contribute outside the classroom and to take part in rotating dormitory supervision.

Interest in and experience with methods of differentiated instruction and the meaningful use of technology in instruction are important, as is interest in teaching students with a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels. Candidates should be committed to staying current with research and best practices in teaching students with a variety of learning styles, as well as to advising and consulting with the faculty-at-large about supporting and nurturing the neuro-diversity of the learners in their classrooms. Finally, candidates should be realistic and excited about the challenges and rewards of teaching in a boarding school that makes connections between disciplines.

Faculty families are welcome for all regular meals when school is in session. Resident and non-resident members of the faculty participate in the full life of the school-from morning assembly and chapel to classroom and after-school activities, athletics, residential life oversight and weekend activities, as well as special events and awards ceremonies. The standard load carried by faculty members is 4 classes, 2 co-curricular seasons, and rotating dorm duty.
