The Job: The Opportunity Network (OppNet) is looking for a driven and dynamic individual to join our team as Assistant Director of Individual and Corporate Giving. We are looking for a candidate who brings relevant skills and interest to the role, maturity and ownership of their work, and is looking for an opportunity to grow in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and working closely with the Director of Development, in addition to the entire development team, the Assistant Director of Individual and Corporate Giving will be a key member of the team as it drives toward its $8M goal, and ambitious year-over-year growth ahead. The Assistant Director of Individual and Corporate Giving will manage and expand a portfolio of 100+ donors and prospects. The Assistant Director of Individual and Corporate Giving will help to support and grow OppNet’s robust individual and corporate giving across special events, solicitations, proposals and appeals, mail and e-mail communications, volunteer recruitment and
engagement, etc. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding new donors at the 5+ figure level.

OppNet connects students from historically and systematically underrepresented communities to college access and
success, internships, career opportunities, and personal and professional networks through our two programs: 1) OppNet Fellows, an intensive six-year long program starting in 10th grade through to college graduation and 2) Career Fluency® Partnerships, our immersive capacity-building program for schools and youth-serving organizations across
the country looking to accelerate college and career readiness for their young people.

The Person: The ideal candidate will personally connect to the important work we do and value diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) across the organization. The candidate will demonstrate DE&I values by actively participating in all organizational-wide learning sessions and self-reflection as well as working with others to enact changes that
contribute to meeting the organization’s DE&I goals.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic and driven individual with a passion for educational equity. The candidate should demonstrate a track-record of success in managing the full lifecycle of fundraising, including identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for a portfolio of donors. He or she should possess excellent, compelling written and verbal communication skills, with savvy and comfort with interfacing with a Board of Directors, corporate executives and high net worth individuals. The candidate must be a self-starter, able to balance collaborating with colleagues across the Development team and organization with their own drive and carry-through to build and sustain an individual giving program.

He or she will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture where their work matters every day. The candidate should possess outstanding project management, organization and attention to detail, as well as initiative and resourcefulness, professionalism and discretion, and the ability to deftly prioritize and multi-task.


• Identify, research, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects and donors, managing a portfolio of approximately 100 relationships, focusing on securing new gifts and upgrading existing donor commitments, primarily ranging between $1,000 and $50,000
• Conduct and/or coordinate face-to-face visits, and coordinate engagement of donors through volunteer opportunities or events
• Research, organize, and evaluate prospects’ financial capacity, ability to give, willingness to give, charitable interests, and connection to the organization
• Produce prospect research and briefings on prospects and donors for Assistant Director’s portfolio and use across development team, including the CEO
• Maintain detailed records and regular contact reports following donor engagements
• Work with key donors to support and fundraise for our annual Night of Opportunity gala, among other events; including our Night of Opportunity Committee
• Develop regular creative and compelling proposals and reports for donors, and other collateral needed for cultivation and stewardship in collaboration with the Development team
• Collaborate with team members to analyze portfolios and strategize upgrades
• Provide accurate and timely activity and pipeline reports and revenue forecasts
• Meet or exceed annual individual revenue goals
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
• Five+ years successful experience in fundraising, front-line experience essential
• Demonstrated success in managing growing portfolio of donors and prospects
• Self-motivated, resourceful and detail- and deadline-oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate a compelling message to various constituencies, including individual, foundation, and corporate donors, volunteers, Board and Associate Board members, staff, students, and alumni.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage, follow-through, and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to research and qualify prospects, as well as manage personalized interactions as a key representative of the organization
• Proactive, entrepreneurial style with the ability to take initiative, recognize opportunities and develop and implement focused plans for executing on those opportunities
• Committed team player with willingness to be hands-on and do what it takes to support the success of OppNet
• Personal dedication to the quality of work produced and a high level of accountability
• Mastery of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel are preferred.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, or a similar database system is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with precision, accuracy, and flexibility.
• Comfort in team-oriented environment with open communication and inclusive decision-making
• Maturity, professionalism, poise, and excellent judgment.
