Neuromuscular Physical Therapy Faculty - University of Pittsburgh
The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh, which is ranked number 1 in the US News and World Report, is currently recruiting faculty with strong clinical background in neuroscience and neuromuscular physical therapy to teach in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program, devoting a majority of time toward the Hybrid DPT Program which is in development. The faculty member will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Experience in online course development and instruction is preferred. The full-time 12-month appointment in the non-tenure stream will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on applicant experience and credentials.

The Department is housed in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS), one of the six Schools of Health Sciences. We currently offer an entry-level professional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, a post-professional Master of Science degree and a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, all of which take place on-campus (i.e. residential). We also offer the Primary Spine Practitioner (PSP) certificate, which is delivered in a hybrid format. The Hybrid DPT Program is under development and will offer distance online education complemented by on-campus immersion experiences.

Responsibilities for Neuromuscular Physical Therapy Faculty position include:
• Collaborating with the Vice Chair for DPT Education, Director of Hybrid DPT Program, and teaching faculty to translate the existing DPT curriculum in the areas of neuroscience and neuromuscular physical therapy into an integrated hybrid learning format;
• Participating in Hybrid DPT instruction and assisting with residential DPT instruction (as appropriate) in the areas of neuroscience and neuromuscular physical therapy;
• Developing onsite immersion laboratory experiences in areas of neuroscience and neuromuscular physical therapy;
• Assisting with recruitment and selection of adjunct faculty, instructors, and lab assistants for the neuroscience and neuromuscular course sequence;
• Contributing to ongoing curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation;
• Participating in DPT student advisement;

Qualifications & Requirements
Requirements for the position at the level of Assistant Professor:
• Earned professional PT degree from a CAPTE accredited program;
• Licensed as physical therapist or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania;
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching neuroscience or neuromuscular physical therapy;
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience;
• Demonstrated expertise in working with and teaching diverse groups.
Experience in online instruction is preferred. Clinical specialization in the area of neurologic physical therapy is preferred.

Requirements for the position at the level of Associate Professor include the requirements for Assistant Professor and:
• At least 5 additional years of experience in teaching in an entry-level DPT program;
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching as evidenced by course and curriculum development, innovative teaching materials, outstanding student evaluations of teaching, or teaching awards;
• Evidence of excellence in independent scholarly activity or excellence in service to the department and profession.
Experience in online instruction is preferred. Clinical specialization in the area of neurologic physical therapy is preferred.
