Assistant Professor Special Education
The College of Education at the University of Utah https://education.utah.edu/ invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a demonstrated record of success in research and teaching in the area of supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD), with specific expertise in advanced applied behavior analysis and inclusion. The Department of Special Education has been intentionally designed to align with the University of Utah’s mission in interdisciplinary research (supporting the goal to develop and transfer new knowledge) as well to engage multiple communities to support improvements in their quality of life. There is a convergence of interest in disability, inclusion, equity, and the imperative to include individuals with ID/DD as a population in all research today. Thus, this position will be filled by an individual who will serve as a catalyst for interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research across disciplines at the University and the Department of Special Education.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Engage in interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research focused on students with ID/DD
• Seek extramural research and training grants
• Teach undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level courses and mentor students in general special education and severe disabilities
• Engage in service to the profession and university
• Engage in outreach to local and state agencies and the community

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• An earned doctorate in special education or closely related field
• Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Established record of research, teaching, and service or strong evidence of potential as a scholar
• A record of evidence or strong potential for effective teaching in higher education
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collegial and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and members of the community
• A record of evidence or strong potential for obtaining externally funded research and training grants
• Three years teaching or comparable experience in the area of students with extensive support needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated success or strong potential for interdisciplinary, and trans-disciplinary research focused on students with ID/DD
• Experience and skill in the design and teaching of online courses
