Data Scientist, Population Health - Remote Nationwide Position
As a Data Scientist on the Empiric Health team, you will be expected to work on new and existing projects, function independently within a fast-paced environment, work on several different projects/tasks concurrently and serve as a data science expert to both internal and external stakeholders. Projects will involve analytics and data visualization, management of AI rule-based systems and the creation and management of Machine Learning predictive models. This role requires critical thinking, problem solving, a mastery of statistical analytics, and experience with Machine Learning principles. The data scientist will have the ability to conceptualize AI/ML solutions, extract and engineer relevant features, manage AI/ML systems using Python and work with clinical experts to evaluate. The data scientist will leverage your strong collaboration skills and ability to extract valuable insights from highly complex data sets to ask the right questions and find the right answers. Experience in population health data science or biostatistics applied to healthcare projects is of particular interest.
Your responsibilities will include:
Independently contributing to projects and solution development from beginning to end
Collaboratively working with data engineers, clinical teams, and business stakeholders gathering requirements, retrieving data, and ensuring validity of results
Researching best practices, tools, frameworks, etc. for data science and healthcare informatics. Approving selection in collaboration with other key staff.
Analyze raw data: assessing quality, cleansing, structuring for downstream processing
Build, train, evaluate and deploy Machine Learning solutions
Generate actionable insights for business improvements
Clearly communicate scope, limitations, & implications of developed solutions
Critical evaluation of the validity and reliability of developed solutions
Provide clear documentation of final project processes
Engage with team members to troubleshoot or assist with tool adoption
In this role, youll spend the majority of your time dedicated to our internal development projects. While most of this work will be remote, you may need to travel to the client site or an office location on occasion (less than 10% travel in total can be expected).

You have the following education, qualifications, and certifications:
Bachelor's Degree required, Advanced degrees or Certificates preferred
You have experience that looks a lot like:
1 - 2 years' of experience in quantitative analytics or data modeling
Deep understanding of inferential statistics, predictive modeling, machine-learning, clustering and classification techniques, and algorithms
Experience applying principles of biostatistics towards healthcare projects preferred
Data analysis and problem-solving experience required
Strong Python, SQL/PostgreSQL experience required
Fluency in a programming language (Python, C,C++, Java)
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organizational/prioritization skills required
Experience in Population Health Data Science strongly preferred
Extensive knowledge of healthcare data, including clinical and financial preferred
