GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides leadership and direction for the professional development and clinical education with respect to the AHN Focus 5: Quality and Safety, Growth and Access, patient experience, financial stability and people. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and executing the educational plan and initiatives for all aspects of system wide standardized Transition to Practice Program in collaboration with hospital Directors of Nursing Education and Professional Development and Nursing Professional Development Specialists/Generalists.

Provides leadership and direction for the Transition to Practice of registered nurses entering the AHN system, to include all new graduate nurses and experienced nurses. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and executing the educational plan and initiatives for all aspects of system wide standardized onboarding to include nursing orientation, Nurse Residency Program and preceptor programs in collaboration with hospital Directors of Nursing Education and Professional Development and Nursing Professional Development Specialists/Generalists.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the educational components for nursing across the system including assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation and execution of the nurse residency program to support education and onboarding of new nurses. Monitors and controls and is accountable for maintaining departmental costs within budgeted allocations. (30%)
  • Conducts and analyzes formal and informal learning needs of nurse residents with leadership and staff. Develops and implements annual review of program outcomes and presents them to nursing leadership. (10%)
  • Coordinates the development and ongoing assessment of orientation and onboarding programs that assist and support new nurses as well as seasoned staff to support competency initiatives and provide quality of care. (30%)
  • Responsible for preceptor program including incorporating into nurse residency program. Develops annual education and competency evaluation for all preceptors. (10%)
  • Provides guidance and support to practice leaders and hospital/unit based educators to actively participate in the infrastructure to support nursing excellence. (10%)
  • Effectively utilizes available data to monitor and report performance on programs, initiatives, and targeted improvement efforts. (5%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field
  • PA RN License, Basic Life Support
  • 5-7 years of related experience

Skills

  • Data collection and analysis utilizing various databases (e.g, Excel and Qualtrics)
  • Curriculum development and design
  • Prioritizing and delegation
