Research Associate- SCCC Cell Bio Brain Tumors
The Research Associate 2, SOM contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.
Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, maintaining databases, etc. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures. Participates in the publications of significant results. Advances expertise through continued education, training and/or research. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings. Ensures all research is undertaken according to food research practice and guidance. Will provide research support to a molecular biology laboratory that is focused on the analysis cellular and mouse models of human glioblastoma and the mechanisms of glioblastoma pathogenesis. The primary role of the Tech will be to provide support for studies related to molecular, cell biology of brain tumors, mouse experiments and translational research studies using mouse models.
Responsibilities
Assist lab members with research activities including laboratory-based research, activities related to molecular biology, histological and immunohistochemical analyses, lab safety and compliance, and general running of the laboratory.
Conduct experiments according laboratory protocols, assisting in collecting samples and preparing lab solutions and/or cultures.
Conduct experiments related to analyses of mouse models of cancer.
Maintains lab notebooks and records related to the work.
Additional related tasks upon request.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training, and experience. Two years of relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in mouse husbandry and studies using mouse models is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques preferred.
