Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting|
This role is responsible for technical accounting guidance and support on significant, unique and complex accounting matters across the Otsuka US and CA affiliates supported by the OAPI finance/accounting team, including the research and documentation of accounting positions and the communication of those positions with internal management and with external auditors. It requires knowledge of IFRS, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and ability to understand and utilize financial systems. Primary responsibilities include:
Performing accounting research and documenting the company's accounting treatment and position on unique and complex matters.
Assessing the financial statement impacts of key accounting positions and communicating those accounting positions and financial impacts with internal stakeholders, including OAI and Japan, and with KPMG
Liasing with FP&A and other business partners to understand business issues, including new contracts or other arrangements, and provide accounting guidance
Training and educating internal colleagues on accounting matters
Assisting with implementing, socializing and operationalizing accounting policies, procedures and new accounting pronouncements.
Supporting the review of financial statements and ensuring conformity with IFRS
Managing the review and completion of accounting policy and disclosure checklists
Assisting with close and reporting activities as needed.
Assisting with ad-hoc projects requiring technical accounting and reporting support.
Identifying and implementing process improvements.
Supporting all internal and external audit requirements.

In this role you will:
Establish robust documentation of the company's accounting positions;
Establish policies and procedures in compliance with IFRS standards;
Enhance reporting through process improvements and business partnering;
Support both internal and external auditors;
Work closely with internal controls to ensure J-SOX compliance;
Interact with Senior Leadership to provide accurate accounting guidance and financial information;
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA a plus;
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a public and/or private setting;
Strong understanding of and experience in applying IFRS accounting and reporting standards
Experience with a large ERP, preferably SAP
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to lead and motivate a team;
Ability to clearly and accurately identify, define and troubleshoot problems;
