Research and Data Analysis (RDA) is hiring researchers with statistical and programming expertise in program monitoring and evaluation in the area of behavioral health and forensic mental health services, particularly those projects that require the use of complex integrated client data.
RDA is a national leader in health and human services research. The high-level statistical research and evaluation performed in these roles contribute to reports used by the State legislature and executive branch to inform policy, programming and budgeting decisions relating to mental health, criminal justice, and other social areas. Some of what you’ll do:
Perform expert-level analyses in SAS or SQL, using advanced mathematical methods to determine program impacts and evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral health programs and policies.
Analyze complex behavioral health and forensic mental health data from multiple sources using SAS or SQL.
Conduct sound statistical analyses using SAS and SQL that evaluate the need, demand, use and outcomes of DSHS and Health Care Authority services.
Ensure that studies provide valid, rigorous, professionally sound, policy-relevant and understandable information.
Integrate and analyze data to produce program monitoring reports and respond to ad hoc queries.
Identify measurement concepts, reference code sets, source data tables and programming logic required to create SAS or SQL database and data mart tables measuring longitudinal concepts, maximizing the strategic analytic value of extracted data.
Monitor developments in and changes to social and health measures, data systems and/or performance measures; modify reporting as needed in response to changes.
Qualifications & Requirements
Professionals with a Ph.D. or equivalent in economics, public policy, sociology, demography, statistics, psychology, or related field. A Master's degree with some documented experience conducting quantitative, policy-relevant research may substitute for a Ph.D.
At least 2 years of work experience using sophisticated quantitative research methods including design, sampling, and complex multivariate statistical analyses.
At least 3 years of work experience conducting quantitative research regarding the impact of programs, interventions, policy changes, and/or predictive analytics relevant to health or social services.
SAS programming skills and recent (within the past two years) use of SAS for statistical analyses and merging data sets. Recent experience with R or STATA with the willingness to learn SAS may substitute.
