Investor Relations Communications Leader (New Consumer Health Company)

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.   

It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.  

Position Description:  

The Investor Relations Communications Leader will develop and implement the strategic Finance communications plan to amplify the Consumer Health Company’s narrative regarding its financial positioning, business focus, and strategic direction to internal and external audiences. This role will ensure clear and consistent approaches to managing earnings communications, SEC, and other financial disclosures, and regulatory issues working closely with the rest of the Finance Communications team within Global Corporate Affairs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Investor Relations Communications leader in planning and conducting investor meetings, conference calls, and presentations to both internal and external groups

  • Communication will include quarterly and annual earnings announcements and ESG investor updates

  • Will work across functions to gather data to inform messaging, Q&As, scripts, preparing/media training executives and speakers for quarterly earnings, financial reporting, M&A announcements, and other key financial events (quarterly earnings, annual shareholder meeting, analyst and investor days)

  • Support IR communication counsel to the executive leadership team, anticipating and preparing messaging around issues that may disrupt a successful, smooth transition and impact ROI, Employee Retention/Engagement

  • Develop and execute overall communication and engagement activities in support of the Finance organization’s strategies and priorities. Lead and manage communications around corporate governance activity (Proxy, CEO Pay, etc.), investor conferences, and financial events

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key financial / investment media


Qualifications

Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience supporting internal and external finance communications

  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with key financial stakeholders, including the financial analyst and institutional investor communities 

  • Experience working on financial communications initiatives, including corporate earnings and major M&A announcements

  • Experience working and supporting C-suite leaders and developing senior leader communications strategies 

  • Success in leading both internal and external communication initiatives

  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity

Preferred Requirements/Competencies:  

  • Master or MBA 

  • Previous or current experience working in a highly matrixed environment

  • Strong leadership skills that can be leveraged to motivate individuals and teams to deliver strong results

  • Creative, innovative, strategic thinker, superb writer, and editor

  • Broad media relations expertise and contacts

  • Proven track record of strong people leadership and building dynamic teams

  • Proven ability to manage vendors and agencies

  • Ability to edit materials, develop clear and crisp media statements, and write speeches and presentations for executives

  • Business Acumen: Understands how market, economic, financial, legal, and compliance factors (i.e., business factors) interact and impact business objectives and value creation

  • Business Mindset: Use business and market insights to support, advise on, and identify solutions

  • Trusted Business Partner: Builds and maintains trusted partnerships with internal stakeholders across functions and leverages influential communication to frame analytical insights and develop fact-based business strategies focused on value creation

  • Digital Champion/Technology Advocate: Embrace and practice a digital mindset through encouraging and role modeling the use of technology

  • Agility and Innovation: Leverages an agile and creative mindset to adapt to change and drive innovative value creation, continuous process improvement, and proactive learning through new technology, processes, and people

  • Stong communication skills; with an emphasis on writing skills

  • Strategic Talent Mindset: Supports a strategic and holistic talent agenda by proactively taking ownership and accountability for attracting, developing, and retaining talent that drives value creation, including helping to foster a culture where every person feels included
