Production Planner II

Position Summary and Objectives

The Production Planner and Scheduler plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors final approval of products through the complete production cycle. They work from engineering plans and production specifications to establish production schedules, labor loading, and capacity requirements. In this role, you will coordinate production plans to ensure materials are provided according to schedules and will interface with marketing, sales, production and engineering managers. The Production Planner also works to resolve (in case of design changes) labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.

This is an on site position in Marietta, Ohio.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors final approval of products through the complete production cycle
  • Works from engineering plans and production specifications to establish production schedules, labor loading, and capacity requirements
  • Coordinates production plans to ensure materials are provided according to schedules
  • May schedule and/or interface with marketing, sales, production and engineering managers
  • Works to resolve (in case of design changes) labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions
  • Establish production schedules to ensures Customer Service and Inventory levels are met to meet business objectives
  • Planning of weekly and monthly buckets to achieve customer service
  • Level loading of the production and alignment of the inventory impact
  • Analysis of demand patterns together with demand planning to achieve a smooth production plan
  • Setup of a feasible production schedule, re. capacity change overs, shift models, and production wheel
  • When in backlog situation, priority tool is utilized to minimize impact
  • Daily alignment with manufacturing and raw materials planning for deviation management
  • Support in weekly ramp up and ramp down planning

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field is preferred
  • 2 years related experience, or advanced degree with limited experience; or equivalent work experience
  • Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
  • Exercises judgment and independence in identifying next steps
  • This is the level at which scientific, technical and/or functional principles, concepts and practices are understood and some real world experience applying these concepts is required
  • Experienced with and functional knowledge of ERP/MRP Planning systems, including all relevant planning parameters such as inventory controls, replenishment, warehouse management and procurement functionality in ERP and best-of-breed software solutions is strongly preferred, with specific emphasis on SAP ECC, EWM and APO
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook)
  • Knowledgeable of planning and purchasing systems
  • Solid understanding of concepts of inventory flow throughout the supply chain
  • Strong understanding of concepts of inventory management and distribution planning
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to develop and provide reports to satisfy ongoing inquires on inventory, capacity and product availability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate critical information
  • Good problem solving and reasoning skills to effectively deal with problems varying in complexity relative to job level

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements

  • APICS certification.
  • Relevant experience in the Life Science or Medical Device industry.
  • Six Sigma Green / Black Belt Certification
