The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with the knowledge, ability and interpersonal skills required to serve as Assistant HR Director, Athletics. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $44,000 to $70,000 commensurate with education and experience and includes full University benefits.

This position serves as the Assistant HR Director and Unit HR Representative/Recruiter for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, under the direction of the Senior Human Resource Leader/Associate Athletics Director for Human Resources. As an HR business partner, this position assists in the implementation of HR strategy by administering policies, programs and services and providing expert advice for recruitment, compensation, compliance, development, support and retention in addition to providing excellent customer service and HR administrative support to key HR systems and processes; Works collaboratively with the Athletics HR Team to provide guidance and excellent customer service to all levels of employees; Serves as liaison with University HR on leave and disability issues.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Behavior or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Minimum of three years of experience in human resource administration or HR management, to include recruitment;
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
• Must be proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel;
• Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment;
• Knowledge of contemporary human resource principles, practices and processes and current federal and state laws, statutes, regulations, policies and directives pertaining to human resources;
• Ability to operate effectively within a highly regulated and fast-paced team environment;
• A strong customer service orientation and excellent attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications:
• PHR, SHRM-CP or other professional HR certification;
• Knowledge of/experience with University of Iowa HR systems, policies and processes;
• Experience with online time and attendance systems (such as TreeRing or similar) and processing of hourly/non-exempt payroll.
