Key Account Manager - Boston, MA|
The Key Account Manager (KAM) is the primary relationship manager for an assigned accounts and/or territory/region on products or services. The role establishes professional relationships within all levels of the assigned accounts, with a focus on reaching key personnel and top tier key opinion leaders (KOLs). The KAM is responsible for meeting assigned targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars within the assigned accounts. The KOLs will include HHMI, Core Facility Managers and Primary Investigators within the microscopy community of Boston/Cambridge. The KAM works in concert with Product Specialist and Product Support team members to drive business growth across the LMS solutions portfolio within the region. The KAM will report to the Regional Sales Manager.
Develop and expand long terms relationships with key personnel and key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the microscopy community
Thoroughly understand the accounts purchasing drivers/behaviors, both technical and non-technical
Conduct analysis and performance evaluation of all sales in assigned region, maintain an up-to-date sales funnel and participates in regular business reviews with customer procurement
Identify selling opportunities across product lines; identify customer gaps and equate to sales opportunity; including prospecting and lead generation
Develop account strategy and lead team selling efforts
Strengthen existing customer relationships to protect revenue and gain market share
Coordinate customer relations with other product specialists
Serve as a liaison between customers, internal teams and the business unit (BU) enabling a direct flow of business and technical intelligence to the BU, and presentation of tailored solutions
Coordinate with local field marketing account-based marketing activities, trade shows, networking with local governments, associations, and academic institutions; recommend product, pricing, advertising and sales promotion strategies
Drive customer success and care to build customer champions for referrals
Effectively communicate and forecast orders and risks to management
3-5 years of large account management experience
Ability to effectively engage and influence a wide variety of audiences both internal and external
Ability to focus on relationships, build trust through expectation setting, and stellar communication
Analytical and organizational skills for a fast-paced environment
Consultative approach to managing complex client relationships
