Legal Director, Technology and Global Sourcing

AsIn-houseTechnology & Global Sourcing Leader,you will be responsible for directly supporting WileysTechnology and Global Sourcing teams, and report directly to Wileys EVP & General Counsel.

How you will make an impact:

  • Provide primary legal support for Wileys Technology and Global Sourcing teams, including drafting andnegotiation of agreements with vendors, such as SAAS, hardware, managed services, license,development, and consulting agreements;

  • Collaborate directly and serve as a strategic thought-partner with stakeholders and leaders acrossWileys Technology & Global Sourcing teams, serving as the primary Legal point of contact for eachteam;

  • Provide practical, risk-based counsel in connection with Wileys strategic goals and imperatives,contractual rights and duties, recent developments in the law, and pre-litigation dispute resolution;

  • Establish, implement, and manage efficient and effective contracting workflows, guidance, andtemplates; develop and improve KPIs to achieve a center of excellence in vendor contracting; develop and improve KPIs to achieve a center of excellence in vendor contracting;

  • Lead internal trainings for vendor contracting;

  • Support and collaborate with the Legal team more broadly, including Wileys corporate, employment,privacy, compliance, and governance counsel, with special projects such as M&A due diligence;

  • These varied responsibilities will give you the opportunity to hone a broad range of skills while youadvocate for Wileys important business and operations requirements.

Who you are:

  • At least ten (12) years experience (at least five (5) within an in-house legal department)with demonstrated expertiseleading the drafting and negotiation of vendor (buy-side) contracts, in the areas of technology products and services,content production and management services, marketing, consulting, intellectual property, among others.

  • Ability to thrive as an individual contributor, exercising independent judgment, working independently, applying practicalsound legal advice, taking initiative, performing at a high level, and acting as a team player in a fast-paced in-houseenvironment.

  • Expertise in applying laws and best practices relevant to vendor contracting, particularly with respect to intellectualproperty, data protection and security, warranties, indemnities, and liability.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Superior organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to execute and follow through on bringing transactions to close and key imperatives.

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited school.

  • Ability to assume greater responsibility as circumstances dictate.
