Senior Cash Accountant

Mission/Job Scope: The Senior Cash Accountant will research and prepare journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and related analysis in support of Leslie’s financial close and reporting processes. This role interacts with other Finance & Accounting departments such as FP&A, Treasury, Accounts Payable and Receivable, as well as the various operating teams to resolve accounting matters. The role will also support external and internal auditors with various requests. The position is based in Phoenix, Arizona. Responsibilities: - Prepare weekly/monthly journal entries (cash transactions, accruals and reclasses)
- Process daily deposits and other cash transactions to reconcile to bank balances
- Work closely with finance and account team to ensure proper cash management
- Analyze spend multiple expense lines and provide explanations for fluctuations from previous periods
- Prepare assigned balance sheet account reconciliations consistent with Company policy and internal control standards
- Initiate and complete corrective actions to ensure outstanding items are cleared
- Prepare various financial reporting schedules utilized in the Company's internal/external reporting
- Answer accounting questions by researching and interpreting data
- Create and assist with support schedules and questions related to our quarterly reviews and annual audits
- Identify and implement process improvements with manager assistance
- Document processes and cross train in other areas in order to provide support during absences
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Progression towards CPA certification preferred
- 2-4 years of accounting/finance experience in a similar role working with the general ledger
- Foundational understanding of S. GAAP and internal controls required
- Effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills, problem solving skills and presentation skills
- Organized and extremely detail-oriented; ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams
- Process oriented with a strong knowledge of applicable general ledger systems and accounting
- Intermediate competency in Excel and proficient with other Microsoft Office suite products (e.g., One Note, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiar with Microsoft Access or similar database query and reporting tool preferred
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines
- Ability to seek out others with the organization to resolve issues
