Assistant, Associate or Professor, Ed. Leadership & Administration
Gonzaga University’s School of Education in Spokane, WA invites applications for one full-time, open rank, tenure-track position (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) within the Department of Educational Leadership and Administration that is commensurate with professional experiences. The position will include leadership responsibilities within the department (e.g., chair, program director). Therefore, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of teaching excellence, scholarship, successful advising of graduate candidates, and previous leadership experiences in education. Additionally, the department seeks an individual whose research interests and expertise focus on dismantling systemic barriers for marginalized populations.

The Department of Educational Leadership offers a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership program as well as Principal Certification. Candidates enter the aforementioned programs as experienced professionals within the PreK-12 system with a desire to improve educational settings through engaged inquiry using reflective practices. The M.Ed. is offered online, whereas the Ed.D. and Principal Certification programs are delivered via a hybrid modality.

Job Duties:

• Teach graduate-level courses within Educational Leadership and Administration
• Teach during the summer semester under a separate contract
• Advise doctoral and master’s candidates through inquiry and/or research projects
• Maintain a regular presence on campus
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Department, School of Education, and University
• Serve on various Departmental, School of Education, and University committees
• Produce scholarly contributions in your field of expertise

Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• To be considered Assistant Professor, the candidate must have:
o Ed.D or Ph.D. in Education or related field
 ABD in related field may be considered, with expectation that the candidate will have degree in hand by July 15, 2023
o Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Pre-K education at the building, district, regional, or state level
o Demonstrated success teaching post-secondary learners
o Record of scholarship (e.g., publications, presentations, grant writing, product design, etc.)
o Demonstrated commitment to Gonzaga’s mission
o Evidence of inclusive, equity-minded teaching practices

• To be considered Associate Professor, the candidate must meet the required qualifications of an Assistant Professor and have:
o Five years of successful experience at the rank of Assistant Professor
o Evidence of teaching excellence
o A well-defined scholarly agenda with a record of scholarship (e.g., publications, presentations, grant writing, product design, etc.)
o A record of successful advisement

• To be considered Full Professor, the candidate must meet the required qualifications of an Associate Professor and have:
o Five years of successful experience at the rank of Associate Professor
o A scholarly record of a mature and established scholar

• Preferred qualifications for Assistant Professor candidates include:
o Recognized contributions to the field of PreK-12 education (e.g., awards, publications, grants, professional development initiatives, etc.)
o Demonstrated ability to help others grow in their leadership capacity
o Successful advisement of graduate students
o Successful development of, and instruction in, online courses (e.g., trainings, graduate courses, etc.) through various modalities (e.g., online, face-to-face, hybrid)
o History working with one or more of the following:
 Schools with high levels of diverse learners,
 Indigenous pedagogy,
 Participatory or community-based research,
 Catholic or other private schools

• Preferred qualifications for Associate Professor or Full Professor candidates include:
o Recognized contributions to the field of PreK-12 education (e.g., awards, publications, grants, professional development initiatives, etc.)
o Demonstrated ability to help others grow in their leadership capacity
o Successful development of, and instruction in, online courses (e.g., trainings, graduate courses, etc.) through various modalities (e.g., online, face-to-face, hybrid)
o Previous work in higher education leadership (e.g., program director, chair, etc.)
o History working with one or more of the following:
 Schools with high levels of diverse learners,
 Indigenous pedagogy,
 Participatory or community-based research,
 Catholic or other private schools
