Summary

Posted: May 13, 2024

Role Number:200550728

Apple Services Engineering (ASE) team is one of the most exciting examples of Apple’s long-held passion for combining art and technology. We enable Apple’s apps and services, and we do it on an extensive scale, to hundreds of millions of customers in over 35 languages and in more than 150 countries. The ASE Security team is seeking a Manager to lead a team of Security Engineering Program Managers to drive the development and hardening of the services and infrastructure that power Apple’s internal and external products. You will lead efforts across Apple to implement new features and ensure security continues to be at the forefront of our software and development processes. You will join a team of engineering-focused program managers committed to and passionate about driving forward our security, privacy and compliance technologies. As our work is integral through the entire software stack, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of engineering teams. We foster strong relationships, build trust, and influence without direct authority. We communicate openly and clearly, collaborate enthusiastically, and value a culture of healthy debate. This is not a task-based job; we are accountable for delivering secure and performant systems. Do these points resonate with you? If so, we want to hear from you!

Description

We are looking for a Manager to lead a talented team of Security Engineering Program Managers that are helping secure the future of Apple’s cloud platforms and services. In this position you’ll build a company-wide vision for how Apple secures its services and infrastructure, including hardening existing infrastructure, collaborating on new security initiatives, and designing new and secure system deployment. This will involve building consensus across all of Apple’s security teams, cloud and infra engineering, global networking, and DC teams, from line engineers to the c-suite. This is a hands-on role working very closely with the engineering org, as well as site-reliability engineering, business, finance, and operational teams. You are the thread tying these disparate teams together to deliver end-to-end initiatives that improve the security for iCloud, internal cloud services, and infrastructure. You will lead a team that is involved in all aspects of the project life-cycle, whether it be helping develop functional requirements, getting into the detailed analysis, facilitating proofs-of-concept, or global platform delivery. You build positive relationships; you are aware of politics but do not get mired in them; you are constantly looking to improve yourself and your team; you see around corners; and you deliver.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong security engineering capabilities and interests
  • Experience managing a team of technical program/project managers responsible for security services and internal offerings.
  • High-level of technical competency and hands-on experience collaborating with highly technical teams
  • Proven track record not just in delivering programs, but also in defining, owning, and driving new strategic security initiatives across an organization
  • Experience in modern cloud platforms and technologies
  • Able to identify risks and then drive the execution across multiple teams to remediate them
  • Strong relationship management and facilitation skills both within diverse engineering teams and with cross functional organizations
  • Proven self-starter, who is dedicated and demonstrates creative and critical thinking abilities
  • Outstanding presentation skills, both written and oral, including the ability to convey complex requirements in a clear, concise and credible manner
  • Overall, a highly driven, results-oriented problem solver who will drive programs and deliver services, which make Apple more secure for our users

Education & Experience

Bachelor's/Master's degree or equivalent work experience in project management or security engineering
