Development Director
Are you a natural relationship builder and leader and have a passion and drive to be a motivating force at Boys Town? Are you the individual who can actively engage the community and bring your expertise in major and mid-level giving to our organization? At Boys town, the Development Director works to achieve philanthropic fundraising goals in support of the organizational mission and formulates and implements objectives for annual, planned, and major gifts. This position also leads a team in activities to solicit and maintain funds, ensures that operations meet programmatic and budgetary objectives and goals.

Summary:

This position is responsible for planning and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and close major gifts for Boys Town. The Major Gifts Officer will build strong donor relationships and foster a culture of philanthropy.

Responsibilities:

▪️ Plan and implement strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts.
▪️ Meet prospective donors to qualify and promote interest in providing major philanthropic support.
▪️ Develop case statements and gift strategies in collaboration with senior management.
▪️ Prepare written and verbal presentations to potential donors.
▪️ Foster innovative use of strategies around fundraising programs.
▪️ Actively participate in major gift solicitation.
▪️ Build strong donor relationships through cultivation and stewardship.
▪️ Foster a culture of "one Boys Town."
▪️ Assume responsibilities for annual plans, budgets, reports, and evaluations.
▪️ Participate in professional development organizations.
▪️ Travel locally and out of town as necessary and provide call reports.
▪️ Hire, manage, and evaluate staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications:

▪️ Strong knowledge of principles, ethics, and practices of successful fundraising.
▪️ Demonstrated ability to develop and implement persuasive cultivation ideas and techniques.  
▪️ Proven ability to provide critical analysis and sound judgment.
▪️ Skills in developing and implementing strategic solicitation fund-raising plans.
▪️ Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
▪️ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
▪️ Ability to build and sustain successful relationships.
▪️ Ability to lead a team of associates.
▪️ Strong knowledge of Boys Town model.
▪️ Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management or related field.
▪️ Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising.
▪️ Experience working with the public in cultivation, gift solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition, and volunteer groups.  
▪️ Available to travel and work evenings or weekends.
▪️ Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
▪️ Ability to provide own transportation and meet auto insurance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

▪️ Master's degree preferred
