The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Professional Counselor to join our team.
Position Highlights:
FACILITY: Western Connecticut Mental Health Network (WCMHN)
UNIT: Outpatient Team
LOCATION: Torrington, CT
SCHEDULE: Full-time (40 hours), 1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

The Role:
The Licensed Professional Counselor in this position will be a member of the agency’s Outpatient team, which provides individual, group and family treatment to individuals who often have complex clinical presentations and severe symptomology.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides clinical services, including individual, group and family treatment to adults who have behavioral health, substance abuse and trauma issues.
May provide clinical case management.
Provides trauma-informed services and care to clients.
Assesses and manages risk and coordinates responsive care to clients who are in crisis.
Completes psychosocial assessments, risk assessments and person-centered recovery plans.
Participates in case conferences and critical incident reviews.
Documents treatment in the electronic health record in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Participates in organizational committees and trainings as directed.
Consults and works collaboratively with contract agencies, community providers and state and community hospitals around coordinating client care.

Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Licensure as a professional counselor in the State of Connecticut.
