The National Black TEEN Empowerment Expo: How Can We Help You Help Us Help Our Teens ? (1028 hits)

The National Black TEEN Empowerment Expo (NBTEE) is all about: 1) discussing, determining and delivering better ways to reach and teach our TEENS; 2) connecting TEENS to more resources; and, 3) providing TEENS more consistent, constructive opportunities.

Applying a combination of technology, live events and media, the NBTEE mission is to build a national youth movement comprised of thousands of caring individuals and committed groups who are a part of our ongoing, urgent efforts to actively promote better tomorrows and create brighter futures.

Today, the NBTEE is proud to be connected with (and help connect TEENS to) more than 1,300 youth groups, youth programs and youth educators nationally.

We now reach more than 60,000 people via a bi-monthly e-mail campaign.

Many more support and share in our progress via web-based products (websites (i.e., www.blackteenexpo.org and www.nbtee.org, etc.), and blogs, and hundreds of social media networks, and media properties (including radio shows, newspapers, an e-magazine and an e-newsletter). Black TEEN Empowerment Radio is the top-ranked youth Internet radio program on www.blogtalkradio.com, and a December broadcast registered 938 active listeners.

Clearly knowing the most meaningful work we do is on the streets and in the schools -- where our children need us the most -- the number of youth, adults and groups we engage continues to grow as we organize and host community-driven events such as TEEN Hall Meetings and Live In Peace Art Parties, and introduce a powerful “edutainment” program called FAME (fashion, art, music and education) to existing (The Better Detroit Youth Movement), newly-formed (Better Baltimore and Greater Atlanta youth movements) and planned (Greater New York, Houston, Los Angeles, (Washington) DC and Nashville (TN) “youth movement” communities. (FAME programs are now underway in New York City and Detroit schools.)

These events and initiatives not only inspire and uplift our youth, and many others, but also promote National Black TEEN Empowerment Expos in each of these markets.

As we strengthen our online outreach, form more community partnerships, and make more friends willing to work with us for a greater good, the NBTEE insists all of us are vital resources and believes in “collective benefit” as we work together to help more TEENS believe and succeed.

So how can the NBTEE help you help us?
