Education is key, when we think about the future of the youth. Whether it is their involvement in academics, community advocacy or social awareness, secondary education is the main ingredient in fully grooming them for the world and all that it has to offer. It is a known fact that youth who take on the responsibility of secondary education have a better known history of having successful futures and as well keep themselves out of trouble because their time is spent on preparing academically for the future. Opposite of the high school graduate who chooses not to go to college, whom subjects his/her life to doing hard labor in the labor force or more than likely in most causes fall subject to allowing idle time of unemployment to get them in a world of trouble.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 70.1 percent of youth who graduated from high school in January through October 2009 between the ages of 16 and 24 were enrolled in college, a historical high here in the United States of America. In a big city like Chicago, where many of the youth are more likely to be involved in gang violence, promiscuity and drug use secondary education is one of the most important roles in helping the youth stay away from such negative activities.
While 73.8 percent of the youth who attending college in the year of 2009 were young women, Asian youth were considered to have the highest number of college enrollment with an average of 92.2 percent, White youth enrollments averaged at 69.2 percent and African American youth enrollments were at 68.7 percent. As the college enrollment rate of young African American youth lag behind, youth organizations nation wide strive to educate young African Americans about the importance of secondary education in order to prepare the future leaders of tomorrow.
This is the reason why Marvinetta Penn, has come up with the concept behind her organization called Global Girls Inc. which has been in existence since the year of 2000, here in Chicago. Mrs. Penn has been working with young girls for over 20 years and just recently traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas to enroll one of here students from Global Girls in to Philander Smith College. Casina Rice who is enrolled at Philander Smith College has been apart of Global Girls since the age of 8 years old and she is now 18 years of age on her way to the top. Casina says "If it wasn't for organizations like Global Girls many young girls would be left behind." Global Girls focus is to help young women to become comfortable inside of their skin by way of instilling life skills and personal development into theatrical performances in order to tell real life stories and build the esteem of the young women who are apart of the organization. One of the major roles that Global Girls play in the lives of young girls is getting them prepared for the real world in order that they may move on into secondary education and help the young ladies to fulfill the dreams and goals that they have worked so hard on for many years through the organization.
According to Tiffany Bean, who is an18 year member of Global Girls, she has been with the organization since she was 10 years old "Although Global Girls may not be accessible for every young girl, every young girl needs an organization like Global Girls in her life in order to prepare thoroughly for the future." So the next time that your lady speaks about her dreams and aspirations, in order that she will not have to settle for less than her dreams---connect her with Global Girls Inc., or an organization like Global Girls in order that you may receive quality results. Allow your child to see their self in the future, get them connected to an organization in order to instill inside of them the benefits of secondary education. For the youth are the future.
