The full version can be found at your local library in the American Documents Book. Henceforth and forever does not mean temporary!

Lincoln knew that any document he wrote had to withstand all legal challenges. The result is a legalistic document that had to satisfy many legal requirements. Regardless of the language, he had one purpose in mind when he issued this document--he wanted every single slave in the south to know that freedom was his or hers. He wanted black troops to fight for the Union. He believed that if the south lost their main source of free labor, it would ruin them economically. Lincoln wanted to destroy the south once and for all. He did not intend for slavery to, somehow, be restored at any time in the future. And in case anybody had any doubts about whether the Emancipation Procalmation was temporary, the 13th Amendment to the Constitution took care of that.

Hello to All, Please let me weigh in on this dialog. I admire President Lincoln’s strategy to win the war against the South and his morals. Indeed, President Lincoln saw Blacks as people when he mentioned that the country could not endure when some are free while others are enslaved. However, White America neither then nor now could free Black Americans in all due respect since the institution of slavery had severely traumatized and destroyed Black Americans mentally. Black America’s physical bodies were freed if you will, but Black America’s mind, soul, spirit and heart were not freed, am I right. Therefore, and only by an act of God could Black Americans ever be freed. Black Americans are still the livestock property of White Americans. Am I making any sense? The fundamental element of freedom is when Black Americans would desire to be a sovereign people on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders to pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way. Black Americans do not have this sort of life in their souls and spirits. To this day, everything that Black Americans have is what White Americans has given or providing to Black Americans, am I right. In comparison and contrast what made the children of Israel free was an act of God by first sending to them Prophet Moses who bred the spirit of life into them and they became a living soul. Thereafter, the Exodus took place. All free people must brave the natural obstacles that nature constantly hurls at any people that are sovereign and free, am I right. Certainly, this is not the case with Black Americans since White America to this day gives and provides for all of Black America’s needs, right. Now, the Emancipation Proclamation would be the same as White America passing a law that it would be a felony to abuse a dog as Michael Vick did as President Lincoln warned White Americans not to abuse or suppress Black Americans and to pay them for their labor henceforth. Am I making any sense? The spirit and intent of the Emancipation Proclamation is good for an animal or not for a human being although I understand the heart and mind of President Lincoln. If I am wrong, please shut me down. However, if I am right uphold me. Tell me what you think.

Lincoln's strategy plan did just what it was intented to do, end the war sooner. The South didn't have the resources to house all the slaves that were homeless. They had to make curfews and arrest loiterers, which forced Blacks to return to their plantation life. There were even cases where the slavemaster kept away outsiders to prevent his slaves from finding out about the emancipation.

The Emancipation Proclamation was just that - a strategic war move It ONLY applied to the states where the Union didn't have control Harry - you say we only have what the white man has given us Yet you want to continue in the same "can't do for ourselves" mindset and have them "give" us land Why? - So they can continue to feel as if they are our saviours? You had the answer when you mentioned the EXODUS - we are not home!

Hello Ms. Judah, You said this, “Harry - you say we only have what the white man has given us. Yet you want to continue in the same "can't do for ourselves" mindset and have them "give" us land.” Ms. Judah we are at the threshold of moving into sovereignty, which is due when for ourselves. However, where we have been in up to now everything that we have happened given to us by White America. Likewise, when Moses came to the children of Israel they were at the threshold of moving away from bondage and slavery. However, before in up to the point of Moses coming what the children of Israel had was what Pharaoh gave to them. Do you understand what I am saying now? In addition, let me explain this to you. The children of Israel were to leave Egypt since they did not have a hand in building Egypt from the very beginning. In other words, when Joseph came to Egypt and the Israelites came after Egypt was already built and established by the Egyptians. However, in our situation Black Americans helped White America take this country as well as build this country into what it is today. Black Americans are a people that were made on this continent while the children of Israel were not made in the country of Egypt. Consequentially, for this reason is why we will inherit a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders. Everything that I say is going to happen. God has inspired me to know that our only permanent solution is to desire to become a sovereign people on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders to pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way. I am the way, and besides me, there is no other way that black Americans could ever become real people in this world. Tell me what you think.
