FACING ADVERSITY
When we are spiritually focused, pain can lead to spiritual growth. No one enjoys difficult times and we want to avoid it at any cost. Yet ironically, when we are hurting we are often most open to change. When we feel secure and happy there isn’t much motivation to look at new ways of being. We are "comfortable" and then become complacent. However, in difficult times, we can discover an inner strength we didn’t know existed.
At some point we all have adversity in our lives. That is part of the human experience. What matters is what we do with it. Our problems become the very place to discover wisdom and strength. We are always at choice—we can live out a victim role, we can ignore what is happening and hope that it will go away or we can remember that we are powerful beings and meet our challenges head-on. Our God granted us with the gift of choice. We were made in his image and likeness. Thus, we can choose to be pitiful or powerful. I don’t know about you but I choose to be powerful because pity is just plain pitiful and adds no value to our lives.
We have the greatest power already residing in us which is ready, willing and able to work with us to take any situation and transform it into something new. It is our choice to begin the co-creation process. The next time you are faced with a challenge, why not call on our Lord and Savior (the greatest power there is) to work with you to make it a time of growth and learning?
SCRIPTURE
“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”- James 1:12
AFFIRMATION
Today, I go within and remember that I am one with my Creator. Love and wisdom are always available to me, when I ask in expectation.
