The power of intercessory prayer is often underrated at times. For this, many of our loved ones suffer due to our Unwillingness to communicate with God on their behalf in the most intimate, face to face level allotted to mankind. Below is a powerful prayer that I ask all of us to pray each & everyday until the Lord delivers our loved ones from the chains of the enemy. This prayer could be the breakthrough they need.

Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I come boldly before Your throne of grace, lifting up ______, as a backslider, and interceding for him/her. For Your Word says, “that if a brother/sister is overtaken in sin, that we which are s...trong should help to restore him/her.” So Father, through my prayer, supplication and intercession for _____, I pray for his/her spiritual restoration.
I pray that You would create within ______ a clean heart, and renew a right spirit in him/her. I pray that You would also restore unto him/her the joy of Your salvation – in living for You and fellowship with You. And may You renew a right spirit within him/her to love You, serve You and obey Your will.
Father, I pray that You would deal with his/her heart. I pray for a strong spirit of conviction to be stirred up in his/her heart concerning sin. May You break up the fallow ground in ______ heart and his/her life, take away the stony heart of rebellion and resistance to Your spirit and Your Word, and give him/her a fertile and receptive heart that is ready, open and willing to receive Your Word and Your Spirit into his/her heart and life.
As the prodigal son left his Father, but returned after he came to himself in the hog’s pen, I pray also for a hog’s pen experience in _____ life. Open his/her eyes that he/she may truly see himself/herself – eating (spiritual) slop. And as _____ sees himself/herself, give him/her a repentive heart to come out of the world (the spiritual hog pen), and joyfully return unto You (the true and perfect Father).
Instead of finding joy and peace in sin, I pray that You would cause him/her to become miserable and uncomfortable in sin. Instead of enjoying the look and taste of sin, cause the sinful things he/she now loves to become ugly, filthy and even repulsive. Like Balaam, as _____ attempts to live for Satan confuse his/her thoughts and words. I pray that You would deal with him/her in dreams and rob him of sleep regarding his/her sin; and give no rest or peace until he/she comes to a place of repentance and gives his/her heart and life back to You.
Jesus please take authority over ever demonic spirit, every principality, and every spirit of wickedness in ______ life. Jesus, bind every evil and demonic spirit from operating in his/her life and from influencing him/her to live or remain in sin any longer. Jesus, please bind sin and its power over ______’ life. Please loose every spirit of wickedness that has had ______ bound in sin and has blinded his/her mind from Christ; and Satan, Jesus commands you to loose your hold from his/her life and let him go free by the power and authority of Jesus.
Father, Your Word says that You are married to the backslider. So as You deal with ______, and his/her heart and mind is changed, I thank You for being there like the prodigal son’s father to also receive, restore, renew and strengthen ______.
Now Father, Your Word says that You are faithful to perform Your Word. So as I have prayed Your Word concerning ______ as a backslider, I thank You for showing Yourself faithful to perform Your Word in his/her life – bringing him/her to spiritual restoration, renewal, strengthening and regeneration in Christ. And, by the authority of the Word of the living God, Jesus decrees that no devil or any demon in hell is able to hold, hinder or stop ______ return to Christ.
In the name of Christ Jesus, I pray, AMEN!
