Any female entertainer with dreams of mainstream stardom can’t ignore a solid gay fan base.
So it just made sense for Nicki Minaj to grace the cover of Out magazine.
Nicki has made her affinity for her gay fans clear in the past, but in her cover story with Out she acknowledges that as a female in hip-hop, it’s easier for her to embrace her gay fans than her male peers.
She said: “Obviously, the majority of the men in hip-hop don’t want you to think they’re gay. That’s just the reality of it. I’m a woman, so I have a lot more flexibility. And I don’t lose credibility in any way if I say I think girls are dope and s*xy.”
Nicki has, however, been questioned about her s*xuality given her rampant s*xual references to women and their lovely lady lumps. She told VIBE that she doesn’t date or have s*x with women.
She clarified for Out adding, “But I don’t date men either.”
She doesn’t want labels or something.
Here’s Nicki in her own words:
“People who like me — they’ll listen to my music, and they’ll know who I am. I just don’t like that people want you to say what you are, who you are. I just am. I do what the f–k I want to do. The point is, everyone is not black and white. There are so many shades in the middle, and you’ve got to let people feel comfortable with saying what they want to say when they want to say it. I don’t want to feel like I’ve got the gun pointed at my head and you’re about to pull the trigger if I don’t say what you want to hear. I just want to be me and do me.”
After you read this, be sure to say, “YOUNG MONEY!”
It adds a great effect to it.
