The Queen's Chair: Hooray For The Chilean Miners (380 hits)

I'm seeing their images on TV and I can't help, but cry. After two months of living under ground and being trapped in a Chilean mine, I am watching the rescue of miner number 16 and I can't help but sob "happy tears." It's stories like this that are so uplifting.

I'm one who complains about bad news. The shootings. The black-on-black crime. The killing of children. The economic forecast. I'm tired of hearing that.

Today, I'm witnessing a group of men who banned together to stay alive. One miner ran six miles a day while trapped a half mile underneath the earth's surface. One sang songs and told jokes. Another gathered the group together to discuss their food supply.

I keep asking myself: could I have done what they did? One miner says his ordeal was God's test. He survived and now plans to make changes in his life. And I know how he feels. my stroke was my test. I truly believe that. My faith didn't waver. I just wanted to know what God was trying to teach me?

Seeing the men come up through their devices made me so happy. Their wives and families hugged them even though they haven't seen a shower in months. Instead of watching daytime TV, people saw a miracle in love, patience, faith and endurance. They never lost hope.

This story could have turned out differently. Instead, everyone got a happy ending.

I missed this blog, but I didn't miss the news about the rescue. I'm happy that the President was there showing his unwavering support for the miners and I do hope that he will look into safer mining for his country.
