I've been thinking about this a lot lately. This past weekend, I attended a family friend's funeral. He was a distinguished professor emeritus of economics at a local college. He founded the department and was its chair. He played chess and valued education.
It was a message he passed on to his students but mostly his four little boys. Those four boys are now grown men who are a tribute to their dad's legacy. All four of his sons went to Harvard or Harvard Law School or both. His sons are doctors, lawyers, journalists or professors. They remind me so much of their dad.
They have his intellect, his humor and bare such a striking resemblance to him.
I looked at them over the weekend and saw their dad's spirit alive and well.
I wonder what my legacy will be? Many people know me as a journalist, author, mother, sister, aunt, broadcaster, blogger, actress, friend, and have seen my printed works. I wonder what memories people will have of me when I'm gone. I found out the other day on FB and the responses were a pleasant surprise. Their thoughts just made me smile.
