Or in my case, people. I'm really angry this morning. However, you couldn't tell. I'm not yelling or screaming. I'm definitely not sulking. But, I could be.
Last night, a member of another writing group sent out an e-mail. Lissa's e-mail basically explained that our writing group had grown too big. We were too successful, in her opinion. So she made the decision to split us into two groups and hinted that maybe we could meet as a larger group once in a while. And she basically blew the rest of us off.
Here's the problem that I have. Not even two weeks ago, she sent out an e-mail complaining about "spotty" attendance at the meetings. Lissa came up with these rules about what constitutes "full" membership and who could attend. Frankly, I was annoyed.
I kept my mouth shut. Lissa is one of those people who thinks she's a superstar when it comes to writing. I don't think her stuff is that clever. So I decided to take her personality out of the equation and look past that. I did. I was still right about her. The fact that Lissa thought she knew more than our instructor, Nick and he is a published author of two books and has been nominated for science fiction writer of the year honors four times and she hasn't because she not published says a lot.
At first, I was disturbed. After a good night's sleep, I'm happy to say goodbye
or rather good riddance to rubbish. Not to be mean, but who really needs that headache? I can write. I write well. I was writing before I met her. So I replied to her, "that since she already made this decision but wanted our feedback, what was really the point? I let her know that while I enjoyed the feedback, I would be taking my work-in- progress somewhere else." And just left it at that. :)
My new group is meeting at my house to keep working on our stuff next Monday.
I'm happy about that.
