Who watched the debut of OWN network on January 1st? That Oprah Winfrey is a smart business woman. The day after New Yea'rs Eve. While stations are running repeats and old movies, the Queen of Daytime kicked off the New Year in style.
Her network and cable channel debut...a success. A ratings winner. It was ranked the third most watched cable network with more than one million viewers. The variety of programming is quite interesting. The show Masterclass with celebrities, business leaders, and news makers interviews explains their life lessons and how they made it. Kidnapping My Parent features children who have parents that don't spend enough time with their kids and their children result to this as a last resource. Doing Hard Time: Behind Bars examines women in prison. And her reality-based show, Search For The Next TV Star, will pick a winner (from ten finalists) who gets their own talk show.
Then Winfrey has some shows I've seen before: one focuses on weight loss, another hoarding, a lifestyle program, a book club and talking about intimate s*xual relationships...not for some adults or children at all.
Just one slight problem. If you don't have OWN as part of your basic cable package, you couldn't see it. So you are going to have to upgrade your package. In this tough economy, not an easy thing to do.
Her cable network basically follows Oprah's style: class, intelligence, and thought-provoking. I'd watch this network, again. I know her fans will. She silenced skeptics..
