I can not begin to tell you how upset I am about this! My heart is really broken over how we in the Black community continue work against our own progress by participating with entities who don't have our best interests in mind. (Just for the record I never liked Jessie Jackson as a youth because I thought of him as a "wanna be MLK" and look a here!)

Look at this clip and pay attention to 4:54-4:59 where a preacher slipped up and admitted there was INDEED a plot/conspiracy to kill the late MLK and also see 6:20-7:08 where **** Gregory asks that the tape be copied and given to people in the audience so that the truth could finally get out rather depending on the Western media (and government who are involved in the killing) to do it for us because those individuals are the same people lying to the Black community ...

And the late Coretta Scott King went to her grave not only believing that the late James Earl Ray was innocent but filed a civil law suit which the King family won exonerating Ray of MKL's death!! What a remarkable human being... God bless Mrs. King's sweet heart and may she rest in peace.

Amazing, eh! Pay particular attention to section 4:00-4:20 for the verdict of the case...
A clip from a lecture by William Pepper, attorney for the King family in the MLK conspiracy trial - which was won by the King family. He discusses the assassination of MLK as described in the book he wrote about it: "An Act Of State - The Assassination Of Martin Luther King".

Sister Jen, I looked into that clip on Samuel Kyles and his choice of words, in my opinion, doesn't indicate any involvement on his part. In another interview with him he says he says he had taken about five steps towards the stairs. I believe in the clip he is only saying that the assassin was waiting for a clear shot, not that he knew the shot was coming.

Now that's something Clark. Who ordered it? Hoover looks like.

Clark, I think it was Hoover. And who did Hoover work for? Was it that great champion of civil rights, LBJ?
Wednesday, January 5th 2011 at 6:53PM
Steve Williams
Huh, I wonder did LBJ have anything to gain by JFK's assassination?

And let's not forget Bobby Kennedy.

Johnson withdraws

On March 31, 1968, following the New Hampshire primary and Kennedy's entry into the election, the President announced to the nation in a televised speech that he was suspending all bombing of North Vietnam in favor of peace talks. Johnson concluded his speech and startled the nation by announcing "With America's sons in the fields far away, with America's future under challenge right here at home, with our hopes and the world's hopes for peace in the balance every day, I do not believe that I should devote an hour or a day of my time to any personal partisan causes or to any duties other than the awesome duties of this office--the Presidency of your country. Accordingly, I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President." Not discussed publicly at the time was Johnson's concern he might not survive another term—Johnson's health was poor, and he had suffered a serious heart attack in 1955 while serving in the U.S. Senate; indeed, he died on January 22, 1973, two days after his term would have ended. Bleak political forecasts also contributed to Johnson's withdrawal: internal polling by Johnson's campaign in Wisconsin, the next state to hold a primary election, showed the President trailing badly. With Johnson's withdrawal, the Democratic Party quickly split into four factions, each of which distrusted the other three.

* The first faction comprised labor unions and big-city party bosses (led by Mayor Richard J. Daley). This group had traditionally controlled the Democratic Party since the days of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and they feared their loss of control over the party. After Johnson's withdrawal this group rallied to support Hubert Humphrey, Johnson's Vice President; it was also believed that President Johnson himself was covertly supporting Humphrey, despite his public claims of neutrality.
* The second faction, which rallied behind Senator Eugene McCarthy, was composed of college students, intellectuals, and upper-middle-class whites who had been the early activists against the war in Vietnam; they perceived themselves as the future of the Democratic Party.
* The third group was primarily composed of Catholics, African-Americans, Hispanics, and other racial and ethnic minorities as well as several antiwar groups; these groups rallied behind Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
* The fourth group consisted of white Southern Democrats, or "Dixiecrats". Some members of this group (probably older ones remembering the New Deal's positive impact upon rural areas) supported Vice President Humphrey, but many of them would rally behind George C. Wallace and the Alabama governor's third-party campaign in the general election.

Since the Vietnam War had become the major issue that was dividing the Democratic Party, and Johnson had come to symbolize the war for many liberal Democrats, Johnson believed that he could not win the nomination without a major struggle, and that he would probably lose the election in November to the Republicans. However, by withdrawing from the race he could avoid the stigma of defeat, and he could keep control of the party machinery by giving the nomination to Humphrey, who had been a loyal Vice President. As the year developed, it also became clear that Johnson believed he could secure his place in the history books by ending the war before the election in November, thus giving Humphrey the boost he would need to win.[2]

Are you serious Brother Clark?

[I think what is really important to learn is who wanted King dead and why. Various people were involved in the conspiracy to kill him, and likely some of them were black. In my mind they are less important as knowing who ordered the killing and why.]

It matters to me that others especially other "so called" Black brothers were privy to the plot. Everyone who knew anything about it has "blood on their hands"with blood being that of the late Dr. King and all should be held accountable, but their day of judgement will come soon enough. I can't comment on Dr. King being a lady's man though. I just want to remember him for the good he stood for especially since his holiday is coming up.

The US news media likes to present the 1960s in America as a "do your own thing" era.

In reality, the 1960s was an era of brutal political repression including the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Malcom X, and Martin Luther King, among many others.

Few people know this, but a court that examined evidence in the Martin Luther King assassination determined that James Earl Ray was not the assassin and that the assassination was the result of a conspiracy BUT NOT WHAT YOU THINK I WILL SHOW YOU WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT ! WATCH ,,

THIS just in about MLK
“Martin King’s commitments to social and economic justice went beyond the contemplative intellect into the arena of an active life. The root and branch transformations of our society, which was about the shaking of all the old foundations, will require nothing less than a struggle in whatever focus it ultimately takes against the familiar, the comfortable, and the acceptable values and inclinations which constitute a very real type of determinism for each one of us. This transcendent struggle, this exalted commitment, emerged as an all-consuming passion of Martin King. He acted upon it until he drew his last breath.

In the 12/9/99 King Family Press Conference on the MLK Assassination Trial Verdict, Dr. Pepper described the significance of what the trial had uncovered and established:

. . . Then the proof goes into the broader conspiracy. The fact that had you known that there were photographers on the roof of the fire station? Had you known that two army photographers were on the roof of the fire station photographing everything? Two cameras, one on the balcony and one whisking around the driveway and into the brush area. Did you know ladies and gentlemen that the assassination was photographed? That there were photographs buried in the archives at the Department of Defense? No, you did not know.
And you know why you did not know? Because there was no police investigation in this case. No house-to-house investigation. Neighbors as late as two weeks later stated “they never knocked on my door, now let me tell you what I saw.” . . . They didn’t talk to the Captain who ran the fire station. No one talked to that man in thirty years. He put the photographers up there. He took the stand and stated, “yeah I put them up there. They showed me credentials saying they wanted to take pictures.” Where are those pictures? That proof has existed for all of these years. It’s there. It has been buried.
The tragedy of the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. is a tragedy for this family here. This family in my view is America’s first family because of their struggle and for what they have stood for, going back for generations, going back to 1917, the first world war period, this family was under surveillance by military intelligence back then. Up to the present time they have been feared. So that is a tragedy for this family. It is a tragedy for this nation and to the world that this man was taken from us when he was.
The third tragedy was the failure of representative democracy to deal with this as a political act. This type of act which was covered up. How was it covered up? Well, the jury heard evidence as to how it was covered up for 31 years. . . .
We can end this nonsense. We can end this cover-up. We can say for once and for all that a jury has spoken. They heard everything. If there is any decency left in this system, it is the fact that you can get 12 people who can hear what other people have to say, they can review documents, there are about 50 exhibits that they were able to review, and they can make up their own minds. The defense tried several times to have the case dismissed. The Judge refused. So it did go to a jury and that jury has spoken.
Let’s hope this is a forum, which we can say, is healing. We have reached the truth

Dr. William F. Pepper was the King Family’s lawyer-investigator in the 1999 Circuit Court trial in Memphis, Tennessee, King Family versus Jowers and Other Unknown Co-Conspirators. The Honorable James E. Swearengen (Division 4, judge presiding) stated to the jury after reaching its verdict:

“In answer to the question did Loyd Jowers participate in a conspiracy to do harm to Martin Luther King, your answer is yes. Do you also find that others, including governmental agencies, were parties to this conspiracy as alleged by the defendant? Your answer to that one is also yes.”

The story of Martin Luther King’s assassination, and the 1999 trial where the truth of this event was finally revealed in a court of law is now encapsulated in Dr. William F. Pepper’s new book, released by Verso this month: An Act of State – The Execution of Martin Luther King. The dust jacket summarizes what many have intuitively known for more than thirty years:

“William Pepper, attorney and friend of Dr. King and the King family, became convinced after years of investigation that not only was Ray not the shooter, but that King had been targeted as part of a larger conspiracy to stop the anti-war movement, and to prevent King from gaining momentum in his promising Poor People’s Campaign. Ten years into his investigation, in 1988, Pepper agreed to represent Ray. While he was never able to successfully appeal the sentence before Ray’s death, he was able to build an air-tight case against the real perpetrators. In 1999, Loyd Jowers and co-conspirators were brought to trial in a wrongful death civil action suit on behalf of the King family. Seventy witnesses set out the details of the conspiracy in a plot to murder King that involved J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI, Richard Helms and the CIA, the military, the local Memphis police, and organized crime figures from New Orleans and Memphis. The evidence was unimpeachable. The jury took an hour to find for the King family. But the silence following these shocking revelations was deafening. Like the pattern during all the investigations of the assassination throughout the years, no major media outlet would cover the story. It was effectively buried.
“Until now, the details, evidence, and personalities of all these nefarious characters have gone unreported. In An Act of State, you finally have the truth before you — how the United States government effectively shut down one of the most galvanizing movements for social change by stopping its leader dead in his tracks.”

@ Brother Clark,
...The black people who may have been involved in King's death were bit players in the plot; I want to know who's at the head of it...
I see your point, but I want to know what you REALLY think of people like Kyle and Jackson who were suppose to be "their brother's (Dr. King) keeper"? I'm disgusted!

@ David

You forgot to add that the King family won that lawsuit. I WILL be picking up a copy of Pepper's book for the King Holiday and for Black History Month. My little son (when he's mature enough to handle it) needs to know that just becasue someone is Black doesn't make that person a brother.

You can say that again! I get alot of "flack" at times because I'm deemed not "this or that enough" but I just know that what David has stated is so true and I've experienced this sad reality over and over throughout my life. I've even blogged about the "False Unity" that we in the Black community like to boast about. Unity is with people irrespective of race, policitical views, or religion who are one with you. This truth was realized with the late Malcolm X after he came back from his pilgimage to Mecca.

Great Post Brotha David
I’m so proud of you guys, because in conclusion of this topic, and Sister Jen and Brotha Clark brought it home for me, that in every ethnic background there are sellouts and turncoats for various reasons.
History shows us that co-workers, friends, religious parties, political groups, activists, religious leaders and especially family, turn on each other and its always of a selfish nature, be it greed or money, thoughts of grandeur, takings said person’s place on the throne, it will better my life and that of my family, and sometimes fear. It was stated that it happened to Jesus, so what makes us think it doesn’t happen in every ethnic background in our everyday life. Question is, do we carry on in our quest for unity, or do we do as some suggest and go our own way? My answer is that we do better united than we could ever do apart. That’s what MLK stood for. Do you think he could have accomplished what he did without the help of his fellow blacks in the struggle and the whites that helped them? We know there is always going to be one who got the devil in them and just don’t want to do right. But we have to keep on walking, keep on marching up freedoms highway. Lets keep the open dialogue going and continue to try to unite in our efforts for unity and peace in this world and figure it out!
Jesse and the rest of those fools that were involved in the death of our beloved Martin Luther King, will have their day. What’s done in the dark always comes out in the wash.

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

...each of us doing the best we can to represent?
I tend to feel that it is best that we as individuals do the very best that we can to represent the good of our culture. If there are opportunities to show support to a fellow Black brother or sister, then by all means do so, but I think that the best thing is to represent one's self by excelling.
