The first amendment of the constitution grants freedom of speech to all citizens. How far does this go? "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercise there of; or the abridging the freedom of speech or of the press or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government or a redress of grievancies." This amendent passed in 1791. Does this amendment cover all forms of free speech? Are children allowed to say anything they want to and use free speech as a right? Does The federal grovernment considers certain statement as treason/ so how does that affect free speech? In this day and time, considering 911 and the Oklahoma City bombing could a threat to the President or his family be classified as an act of treason? The rocker, Ted Nuget made a statement that cause the Secret Servise to pay him a visit. Is an apology good enough?
