Anyone who has sat near the hoop knows that basketball is a contact activity. So too, apparently, is the “Basketball Wives” reality show.
Jennifer Williams, one of the wives and ex-girlfriends of NBA players who star on that show, filed a lawsuit today against a woman she contends slapped her face during a taping of the program.
Williams, the ex-wife of Eric Williams, contends that Nia Crooks, a personal assistant to Evelyn Lozada, smacked her during filming on Jan. 21.
The alleged incident happened in the presidential suite of the Gulfstream Park racetrack in South Florida.
Williams filed suit in Manhattan, and also filed a complaint with the state attorney’s office in Florida, her lawyer Sanford Rubenstein told the New York Daily News.
“Violence used against any person is wrong but when a woman hits another woman it sets a horrible example for young girls everywhere,” Williams told the newspaper. “I choose to use the justice system to fight back.”
Williams claimed she still has a nexk injury from the run-in, which aired in Monday’s episode.
“She hit me with her open hand on my cheek,” Williams said. “I’ve never been hit in my life.”
