RODNEY KING DEAD AT 47.. King had been drinking and even smoked weed in the hours just before his death. (1150 hits)

UPDATE 9:27 AM PT -- According to our sources, King's fiancée is telling friends King had been drinking and even smoked weed in the hours just before his death.

Rodney King -- the man who was at the center of the infamous Los Angeles riots -- was found dead this morning in Rialito, CA. He was 47.

According to our sources, King's fiancée found him dead at the bottom of a pool.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they responded to a call at 5:25 AM PT. We're told they physically removed King from the pool and attempted CPR.

Our sources say he was pronounced dead at 6:11 AM.

Law enforcement sources say Rialto PD will open a drowning investigation, but so far there are no signs of foul play.
King became famous in 1991 when he was the victim of police brutality at the hands of the LAPD. The officers involved in the incident were acquitted the following year and the announcement of the verdict led to the Los Angeles riots.

TMZ spoke with King about two months ago, where he seemed upbeat and introspective.

Going for a dip in the pool at 5:00 in the morning (2AM EST)????? Something just doesn't make sense...

I hope that this is just an accidental drowning and not foul play. Rodney King had battled alcoholism in the past. Not too long ago he seemed happy with his new lady and gave a lot of interviews, saying how much happier he was. I felt sorry for him when I felt his spirit and witnessed his demeanor. Those cops were savages that beat him...SMH

Rodney King had battled alcoholism in the past. Maybe he had gotten drunk and (accidentally) fell in??

This is sad news...Rodney King was a very soft spoken brother and a gentle giant...he will truly be missed.

Hi lov...it is too bad we don't bother to address how many human beings self medicate with alcohol (a legl drug only because it is taxed and is so much a part of a government that worships the 'almight $$$ until we will forever over rule how the average human may never be able to over come such a vicious, uncalled for and yet legally justified beating simply because of the crime of 'walking in America B-L-A-C-K...

did you see my post on this matter as related to no mass media coverage would be done about a Blackmale without putting the labels of 'drugs and alcohol' derisl commiter of crimes as the prime reason for such an instant mass report on a nonBlack super star? (n...u...p big time)
