Hello to All, I resonate with you all sentiments of Black America's tragedy in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921 solely because of unity and accumulated wealth under extreme pressure by White Americans not to have unity and wealth. However, I believe that you all are adding to the tragedy as well because of you all extreme ignorance of how you all have interpreted this tragedy. The only interpretation that any intelligent Black American should interpret this tragedy is that we must desire to have our own and be in the position to protect what we have. We must desire to become a sovereign people in a country of our own with borders on a reasonable and fertile portion of this continent. We must have our own prophet. We must have our own religion. We must have a profound belief in God given to us by our own prophet whom God has anointed. This is what you all are afraid of embracing, am I right. I know that I am right because you all constantly whine and complain and refuse to accept our only permanent solution and that is we must desire to become a sovereign people. The only way one people (White Americans who are our relatives) can prevent Black Americans from having a desire to be sovereign free are to confuse and mentally mislead Black Americans. You all need to stop whining and complaining!

I have a problem with some of your comments, Harry. I certainly an not "whining" about what happened. Many people don't even know about The Black Wall Street. This knowledge has been hidden from us. We need to heal from these kinds of events. This is what the ancestors want. And no, we do not have to believe in a god in order to heal from our past. Don't go dragging god into it. While I support the call for a sovereign nation, we already have many sovereign nations in Africa. What The Black Wall Street demonstrates is the destructive power of group mentality - the "us and them" mentality. When a community is destroyed, everybody suffers. We need to live and work together in harmony.

Hello Ms. Books, Let's talk about what we agree on, okay. You agree with me that Black Americans need to be a sovereign people/nation. However, you say we already have sovereign nations in Africa. Are you aware that Black Americans were born out of plantation slavery on this continent in this country of White Ametica? So, how does many sovereign nations applies to Black Americans? Black Americans are a new race of people. Black Americans are not African people. Am I wrong about these things I've said?

hey i love your research and words---- Tremendous Scholarship and Great Importance of Definition "Zhana's work focus is on the healing of the people of the African continent and Diaspora. Individual, collective healing, Physical, mental and emotional healing." "The ancestors want us to heal these terrible, terrible wounds from the past and create the future we deserve." i just have issues with 'black'; the european Adjective ----and i guess i have never commented on your Maafa, oriented posts because i like to look at History, Scholarship and Science from an African Asian Centric pre1492 basis and history----- may i add the following ? By the late eighteenth century, when over half a million Africans were enslaved in the South, the five southern Native societies of that region Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole had come to include both enslaved blacks and small numbers of free African Americans. ......slaves had run away from their european masters .... were received as free people. However, slavery in these Native nations differed in significant ways from American slavery. Slave families owned by Natives were not sold apart and usually were permitted to live together even if individual family members had different masters. Native slaveholders generally did not use violence to control their slaves, and slaves were not regarded as dehumanized beasts of burden. The history of Africans in Oklahoma(statehood in 1907) is a story unlike any to be found in the United States. American Natives brought their slaves to the west in the 1830s and 1840s when the federal government removed the nations from the southern states. In the 1830s African slavery was established in the Indian Territory By 1860; eight thousand Africans were enslaved in Indian Territory, where they comprised 14 percent of the population of Oklahoma. Africans 8000 = 14% ----- nonAfrican = 86% of 86% how many were Natives?---'white'American?---'mixed' African, Native and 'white'? and what was the mixture of populations of Greenwood Oklahoma 1921? AND WOW i LOVE your comment above; "What The Black Wall Street demonstrates is the destructive power of group mentality - the "us and them" mentality. When a community is destroyed, everybody suffers. We need to live and work together in harmony." reality though........... up to 1970s this story was called, "the Negro Wall Street" --- could it have been Referred to moreCorrectly a Native American Human and Financial Tragedy.......? OR can i Logically say that Zanda and harry 'black' thought had NOTHING to do with this American Historical Incident .........."that we need to live and work together in harmony", BECAUSE we are the SAME Americans.......................

Thanks very much for your comments, Powell. I did not know about the pattern of enslavement by native peoples and how it differed from enslavement by Europeans. I don't have a problem with the word Black. The colour black is the most powerful colour, hence feared by Europeans and lighter-skinned people of other races. For my thoughts about this, go here: http://ancestralenergies.blogspot.co.uk/20...

Hello Ms. Books, I take it that my question was to difficult for you to answer. Don't worry about it. No one is smarter than I'm since I am Black America's first genuine prophet. I speak for Black Americans.

Zhana Books YOU write; "aware of the power of the colour black.... the colour of the earth,.... Blackness is an important part of our identity... a black hole in space attracts everything to it....." and that is OK ----------for artistic writers that want to sell books ---OK with me but, in my opinion No, the Attack and destruction of Greenwood Oklahoma was a lawLess inHuman attack on ALL Americans. HISTORY, SCHOLARSHIP and SCIENCE teaches an Intelligent World/America Public 1. skin color cannot think or reason 2. that the population of Greenwood Oklahoma in 1921 was a mixture of DNA from Native American, African-Arab-Spanish-European People! 3. that 2012 Greenwood Oklahoma will also show the DNA of Native American, African-Arab-Spanish-European People! 4. the only winners or whinners of the artifical labels; 'black-white-red' are the Dividers of Humanity 5. you and harry agree,-----------------i do NOT 6. AND in YOUR words---"that we need to live and work together in harmony, BECAUSE we are the SAME Americans." -- not 'black' 'white'-- BUT an original mixture of Native American, African-Arab-European

Harry, no, it's not at all difficult for me to answer, but I do have other things to do. I believe I have already answered it in my blog. African Americans are African people. We always have been and we always will be. We never stopped being Africans.

Powell, African Americans are a mixture of different races and cultures. The attack on Greenwood was just one of many attacks on African American communities.

/* Good Post, Zhana! (My remarks are indicated with this sign ~ (text) ~). Now, from your (the positive contributors) words... "Greenwood was a street that ran through the Black side of town in the city of Tulsa Oklahoma. The history of Africans in Oklahoma (statehood in 1907) is a story unlike any to be found in the United States." ~ Now, doe’s that not make you all very proud? If it doesn't, it should! ~ "By the late eighteenth century, when over half a million Africans were enslaved in the South, the five southern Native societies of that region Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole had come to include both enslaved blacks and small numbers of free African Americans. ...Slaves, had run away from their European masters ...were received as free people." "African Americans are a mixture of different races and cultures, an original mixture of Native American, African-Arab-European. The attack on Greenwood was just one of many attacks on African American communities." ~ The Positive power of group mentality ~ "Africans 8000 = 14% ----- non-African = 86%." ~It's a good number. But is it correct? Do you believe that number? What about the people the census has not recorded? The share-croppers who, for some unknown reason, :-(, were not accounted for? Were they invisible? Doe’s this not bring to mind, the voting rights act? How about the "Jim Crow" implementation? Can you imagine being there and suffering the torment of being treated as though you were not here, although you are standing right next to the person who is counting people? ~ ~They've successfully disenfranchised a great many of our people from the right of casting a VOTE IN THE YEAR 2012! ~ ~"The destructive power of group?" Oh yes! ~ ~How long to you (all) think it will take before all; of the races on the planet Earth are all of the same mixture; hue, color, (the hair might be a bit different), mentality, and the common Human cause; of us cannot decipher one from the other? It's inevitable. No one can stop it! Sooner or later, no one will care about the silliness of skin color because all are going to be pretty much the same. - This is the numero uno on the list of fears the Klan espouses; the mixing of the races will take over and dominate this planet - this World! Our President is a prime example, don't you think? ~ "Zhana's work focus is on the healing of the people of the African continent and Diaspora. Individual, collective healing, Physical, mental and emotional healing." ~ The good and positive power of a group. ~ "The Attack and destruction of Greenwood Oklahoma was a lawless In-Human attack on ALL Americans. The ancestors want us to heal these terrible, terrible wounds from the past and create the future we deserve." ~ The power of group mentality. ~ "When a community is destroyed, everybody suffers! What The Black Wall Street demonstrates is the destructive power of group mentality - the "us and them” mentality." ~ May God Bless Us All – Everyone! ~ Peace and Love, Greg. */

Gregory, thanks for your comments. You have made many good points. I have known about this event for a long time, too. I am shocked about how few people know this story. Our stories need to be told. And I am still learning more. There is always more to learn. The way I use the term "group", which is what I have learned in a Buddhist context, is that it is negative, the herd mentality. People who think for themselves are individuals who can, and should, work collectively. This is different from group mentality. An attack on African people is an attack on everyone, of all races. Not just on Americans. It is an attack on humanity. And there have been many, many attacks on African people, as I am sure you know. Half the story has never been told.

The Blog King David, yes, I agree with what you have said. It is an amazing story and we can learn much that is positive from what happened. One church decided to rebuild after the attack and they built their church twice as big as it had been before. Plus the courage of these extremely elderly survivors is something to behold.
