How to Study and Manage Your Time (1588 hits)

One of the best skills you can learn while in high school and college is how to manage your time. Time management is a big challenge for students who like to procrastinate. During high school it seems to be so easy to procrastinate until the last minute and turn in a term paper. My suggestion is that you practice getting assignments in on time by developing a time management schedule. You can learn how to develop good time management habits so that your college experience goes smoothly.

High school is a great time to start working on your time management plan. If you are not in control of your time others will fill it for you. You should start by purchasing a daily planner or by using an application on your cell phone. You can put all of your courses on your schedule, add test dates and prepare for quizzes. If your schedule is well planned, you will gain more time to have fun.

Don’t let other tell you how you should be using your time. It is your time to manage. Write down what you will be doing with your time and stick to it. You can make a things to do list that you will check off at the end of the day or week. Also be realistic about how much you can fit into your schedule. Talk about your schedule with an advisor or counselor.

Every week review what you have accomplished. It will help you to reinforce the importance of being prepared and on time for every class. You can maximize your chances that you will be prepared for every test by doing the right follow up. Build in time to review and study the in important topics that are already assigned. You should also have time to conduct additional research on your classroom topics. You can never be too prepared for a class. In fact, your professor or teacher will be impressed that you are prepared and knowledgeable about their subject. Also build in time for tutoring that may be necessary when you have very difficult courses.

Time management is an important aspect of preparing to study any of your subjects. To many people do not know how to study. You will benefit from setting up a quite location where you will study. You can wait until the library is empty and then create a time on schedule when you will go there to study. Learning how to study and manage your time will remind you that you can be an excellent in every course when you are devoted to academic excellence.
